Betamek Secures RM437mil Job To Supply Electronic Parts For Perodua’s New Model
Betamek Berhad has been awarded an RM436.5 million contract to supply various electronics parts for the new car model from Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sendirian Berhad.
The supply of electronics parts is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year ending 31 March 2025 and will last for six years. The contract is expected to contribute positively to the Group's earnings over a six-year period beginning in FY2025, according to the group.
Betamek's Managing Director, Encik Mirzan Bin Mahathir, stated that demand for the company's vehicle audio visual (AV) products and vehicle accessories is expected to grow in tandem with the increasing demand for its major customers' vehicles. "Although the sales tax exemption incentive for passenger vehicles expired last month," he continued, "we are confident that demand for our vehicle AV products and vehicle accessories will continue to grow alongside the strong demand for our major customers' vehicles."
Perodua recently announced that it is on track to meet its 330,000 production and 314,000 registration targets for this year, as the compact car manufacturer continues to improve its operational efficiencies.
PERODUA produced 153,813 vehicles as of 30 June 2023, a 17% increase over the 131,641 units produced in the same period in 2022.
This production success has resulted in a 13.6% increase in registrations to 144,690 vehicles for the first half of 2023, compared to 127,343 units sold in the same period last year.
