Even before reaching the hands of customers, the Tesla Cybertruck has both been lauded and maligned by many. However, perhaps issues fuelling the latter such as late delivery will be put to rest given this recent Twitter post by Elon Musk.

As you can see in the embedded Tweet post below, Musk revealed that the first Tesla Cybertruck unit has rolled off the line at the American EV marque’s Gigafactory in Texas. This is indeed a major milestone for the groundbreaking new EV offering as it takes one step closer towards reaching customers.

According to sources online, this first unit produced by the Texas Gigafactory is a production intent model aimed at assessing the most efficient way to produce said EV truck en masse. This aligns with what CEO Musk stated earlier this year about the model’s initial low output production run first before scaling up.

To refresh your memory, Tesla aims to start production of the Cybertruck this year and targets to shift around 375,000 units annually. Besides North America, perhaps a sizable chunk of that will be driven by sales in other markets not typically associated with full-sized pick-up trucks as what the Cybertruck is.

In the midst of the hype surrounding Tesla Motors Malaysia setting up shop earlier this month, we also noticed that Tesla has been showcasing the Cybertruck through a dedicated model page in a number of its market-specific websites in our region. Said effort suggests that the Cybertruck will be offered in other neighboring markets such as Thailand – arguably the region’s de-facto pick-up trucks market leader – and Hong Kong, as well as both Australia and New Zealand.

Though the model is being previewed online via said dedicated model page on their respective market sites, it remains unavailable for pre-orders at this point. Given that the initial low-volume production effort mentioned will kick off soon, perhaps this could also change in due time.
