Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally Debuts As A Rally-Inspired EV

Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally made its debut at 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed
The 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed saw many automakers from the whole wide world showcasing and racing their latest and greatest inventions up the iconic Goodwood Hillclimb. While most of them being a mere concept or track-only exclusives, several marques have put up a surprise by unveiling a new model that’ll actually hit production in near future.
One of said marques is renowned American automaker Ford, who has surprised Goodwood’s visitors by debuting an all-new model – the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally. As its name suggests, this is no ordinary Mach-E, as it has been bestowed with rallycross-inspired makeover that not only makes it look like a proper rally car, but drives like one as well.

Being the marque’s first rally-inspired new model in more than six decades, the Mach-E Rally is donned with several rally bits and equipment. Highlights include the rally-style roof spoiler, custom faux front grille with two rounded fog lamps and red tow hook, prominent mud guards, and many more. The EV crossover also rides on rally-style wheels shodded in BF Goodrich Trail T/A tyres.

Although the Mach-E Rally’s innards aren’t as bare-boned as WRC-spec rally cars, at least you get bucket-style seats that’ll help to keep you in place when hooning through the rough terrains at high speeds. Elsewhere, the cabin sports several carbon fibre and cream-hued elements, while standard tech amenities found on non-rally Mach-Es like the vertical infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster and A/C can all be found here.

Ford, however, remains tight-lipped about the Mach-E Rally’s performance specs. But, we expect it’ll be somewhat similar to the souped-up Mustang Mach-E GT’s spec, which gets a dual-motor powertrain setup that delivers a total system output of 480 HP (358 kW) and 813 NM. This setup drives all four of Mach-E GT’s wheels (AWD) from nought to 100 KM/H in just 4.1 seconds.
While the Mach-E Rally underpins the same architecture as the standard Mach-E, we’d reckon it’ll get several mechanical upgrades or several welding points addition to ensure the chassis and the drivetrain are rally-ready. However, we can’t confirm the exact details on this until the car makes its market entry later this year.

The all-new Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally will partake in the Goodwood Hillclimb challenge, driven by former World Rally champion and current M-Sport Ford Puma Hybrid Rally car driver Ott Tänak. As we mentioned earlier, Ford is actually producing this rally EV model, with bookings poised to be opened in selected markets like North America and Europe later in Fall this year.
