Prior to the launch of Maserati’s house-built Nettuno V6 engine, several high-performance Maserati models adopted the Ferrari-derived V8 mill as the base for its powerplant. However, the adoption will come to an end as the engine supply agreement between Maserati and Ferrari is due to expire by the end of this year.

Before the partnership concluded, Maserati decided to give Ferrari’s eight-pot mill one last hurrah by launching two final V8-powered models to don the iconic Trident emblem – the Maserati Ghibli 334 Ultima and Maserati Levante V8 Ultima.

Making its debut at the ongoing 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed, both the Ghibli 334 Ultima and Levante V8 Ultima share the same Maranello-made 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 mill that delivers 572 HP. Said engine is capable of propelling the Ghibli 334 Ultima from nought to 100 KM/H in just 3.9 seconds, en route to reach its namesake top speed of 334 KM/H – making it the fastest production sedan ever made (so far).

Visually, the Ghibli 334 Ultima gets several carbon fibre parts, notably its rear spoiler, while its fenders are donned with the “334” badging, denoting its top speed. Elsewhere, the performance sedan also rides on snazzy 21-inch wheels with dark accents complemented by gloss black-hued brake callipers, shodded in new performance-oriented tyres with bespoke compound.

Inside, the special Ghibli comes with special sporty seats wrapped in a blend of Ultima Pale Terracotta leather and Alcantara upholstery. The seats’ headrests have been embossed with Maserati’s iconic Trident emblem, as well as “334” badges. Aside from the headrests, the “334” numbering also appeared on a special plaque that adorned the car’s central console. At the same plate also written “una di 103”, which indicates the exact unit number of the car out of the total 103 produced.

As for the Levante V8 Ultima, the performance SUV rides on 22-inch wheels finished in black. Similar to the Ghibli, this special Levante is also donned with several carbon fibre trims outside, along with the “V8 Ultima” logo on the front fenders.

On board, the Levante V8 Ultima gets the same Pale Terracotta leather upholstery that is blended with black leather for the seats. Just like the special Ghibli, this special Levante also gets Trident-embossed headrests with V8 Ultima lettering instead of “334”. With the SUV also limited to 103 units, customers will also get the same “una di 103” plaque on its central console.

Aside from the two V8 swansongs, the Italian automaker is also bringing a trio of GranTurismos to the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Said trio consists of the Nettuno V6-powered GranTurismo Trofeo,  the all-electric GranTurismo Folgore, and the one-off GranTurismo Prisma. Plus, visitors can also check out the Grecale Folgore EV SUV, as well as the marque’s flagship convertible supercar, the Maserati MC20 Cielo.
