In the first half of 2023, Perodua delivered 32,316 units of the Myvi while selling 40,555 units of the Bezza.
Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) intends to incorporate more Asean-inspired design elements into its next compact sedan.

According to President and CEO Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad, Perodua has only one model in the compact sedan segment, the Perodua Bezza.  In a press conference at the Asian Compact Sedan Design Competition (ACSDC 2023), he stated that redesign planning for the Bezza would most likely begin now, with a complete model change in two or three years.

This is how the next Axia D74A-based Bezza might look like according to Theottle.

Perodua collaborated with Malaysian Design Council (MRM) to organise ACSDC 2023 to promote good design and stimulate competitiveness among car designers in its bid to gather inspiration for an Asean-inspired design.

The competition is open to Asean countries and is divided into two categories: university students and professional designers. According to Zainal, the competition aims to attract more vibrant ideas and reach out to more young talent interested in automotive design.

He stated that Asean countries' participation will allow for the incorporation of ideas from various parts of the region into the design of its next car.

Zainal stated that the competition will last seven months until eight contestants are chosen.

Shortlisted candidates will then create a full-scale model and present their design thinking.

He reiterated that the competition is a platform for gathering design inspiration, and that the competition's long-term goal is to elevate Malaysia as the region's next hub for automotive design.

According to MRM director Husaini Ismail, the collaboration between Perodua and MRM is a watershed moment in the automotive industry.

He mentioned that the finalists will receive over RM100,000 in prizes and incentives.
