Report: UMWT Open Bookings for 2023 Toyota Alphard & Vellfire
![]()
The Toyota Alphard and Vellfire are two of the most popular and beloved MPVs in Malaysia, being the favourable choices for politicians, tycoons, and even families alike. It is no surprise that the all-new 2023 Alphard and Vellfire, which debuted last month, has garnered rave reviews from Malaysians, so much so that it has reportedly prompted UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) to officially take bookings for them.
This revelation comes after two screen-captured images of the 2023 Toyota Alphard and Vellfire price lists resurfaced online, which suggested that UMWT will bring the two new MPVs officially into our local market. For the record, UMWT had previously offered the Alphard and Vellfire officially back in 2020, but has stopped to do so since both models are widespreadly available via multiple grey importers and recond car dealers nationwide.

Referring to the leaked price lists obtained via a local dealer Facebook page, we can see that the new Alphard ‘offered’ into our market is the Executive Lounge variant with a 2.4-litre turbocharged engine. This is different from what’s been offered in the Japanese market, where the new Alphard is only available with a 2.5-litre 4-cyl naturally-aspirated mill that comes in either full-ICE or hybridised versions.

As for the Vellfire, the leaked price list suggests that it is offered with a 2.5-litre engine, with no mention of whether it is a hybrid or pure nat-asp unit. This is somewhat similar to the ones offered in Japan, but the Vellfire is exclusively offered with the turbocharged 2.4-litre 4-cyl engine – marking the first-time an Alphard or a Vellfire is powered by a force-induction engine.

Powertrain options aside, said price lists suggest that the Alphard is offered with four exterior colourways, namely Platinum White Pearl, Precious Metal, Precious Leo-Blond, and Black, while the interior colour options is limited to two – Beige and Black. As for the Vellfire, it is offered with just three exterior hues – Platinum White Pearl, Precious Metal, and Black – while the interior hue is offered only in Black.

As for their prices, the 2023 Toyota Alphard Executive Lounge variant is listed with a hefty RM538,000 price tag, while the Toyota Vellfire is priced RM100,000 cheaper at RM438,000. All prices stated above are on-the-road sans insurance prices, which allegedly includes UMWT’s standard 5-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty.
As of writing, UMWT has not issued any statements or commented anything pertaining to these leaked price lists or whether they’ll bring in the new Alphard and Vellfire into our local market. Given that the new models garner rave reviews from many people, plus the sheer affinity Malaysians have on these MPVs, perhaps UMWT should seriously consider this notion, if they haven’t yet.

So folks, keen to see the new Alphard and Vellfire in our local market? Would you pay the extra premium for them if UMWT decides to officially sell them here? Or would you rather wait for grey importers to bring them later in the near future? As always, don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments below…
