Sime Darby Motors Appoints 14 New BYD Dealers Across Malaysia

14 new BYD dealer partners attended signing ceremony held at BYD's headquarters in Shenzhen, China
Sime Darby Motors, sole distributor of BYD brands in Malaysia has appointed 14 new BYD dealer partners in the firm’s bid to further expand its EV brand’s presence in the country. In total, this appointment will see BYD expanding its current dealership network to a total of 21 outlets across Malaysia.
Said appointment took place at BYD’s headquarters located in Shenzhen, China, officiated by Jeffery Gan, managing director of Sime Darby Motors Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Macau. Also present during the appointment ceremony was Liu Xueliang, general manager of BYD Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division, as well as Eagle Zhao, managing director of BYD Malaysia.

Back to BYD's dealership network, this addition will see the Klang Valley region having a total of seven BYD dealerships, which includes one upcoming dealership located in Kayu Ara, Petaling Jaya, operated by Millenium Autobeyond Sdn Bhd.

Newly-launched SDBA's BYD outlet in Gurney Plaza, Penang
Moving to the northern region, there will be six BYD dealerships set to be open, with two of them – Sime Darby Beyond Auto’s Gurney Plaza outlet and Lee Motors’ Sungai Petani outlet – already up and running. Two of the remaining four dealerships are located in Butterworth, Penang, while the other two located in Sungai Petani, Kedah, and Ipoh, Perak respectively.

SDBA's BYD outlet in Johor Bahru, Johor
For the southern Peninsula Malaysia, four new BYD dealerships will join the current sole BYD outlet in Johor Bahru, making it a total of five outlets in the region. The new outlets will be located at Seremban(Millenium Autobeyond), Melaka (Sing Kwung Motors), Batu Pahat (EV Supreme), as well as Tebrau, Johor (Sime Darby Beyond Auto).

This addition also sees BYD venturing into both the East Coast Peninsula and East Malaysia regions, with the former region having one new outlet located in Kuantan, Pahang (Macinda EV Sdn Bhd). As for the East Malaysia region, both Sabah and Sarawak will gain one new BYD dealership, with the former located at Kota Kinabalu (Regas EV Sabah), and the latter situated in Kuching (Regas EV Auto).
Once the signing ceremony ends, all the newly-appointed dealer partners were also given the opportunity to take a tour of BYD’s headquarters, gaining insights into the company’s impressive research and development (R&D) capabilities, as well as its dynamic range of cutting-edge innovative products.

Commenting on this momentous occasion, Jeffery Gan said, “This announcement marks another milestone as it has only been six months since we launched BYD in Malaysia and today, we have 21 dealership locations lined up to meet rising EV demand. This indeed demonstrates our confidence of EV prospects in Malaysia’s automotive industry while ensuring that we are well-equipped to serve the market.”
Meanwhile, Eagle Zhao commented, “This agreement between Sime Darby Motors and BYD is yet another step forward in the automotive green revolution and is indicative of the changing dynamics of the industry. As the partnership progresses, we expect to provide further technological advancements and consumer experience, driving the industry towards a greener, efficient and a more sustainable future.”
