No Next Generation Honda Accord For Malaysia

The tenth-gen Honda Accord is set to bow out at the end of this year without a replacement.
In the midst of launching the refreshed iteration of its smallest four-door sedan offering earlier today, Honda Malaysia also announced that its largest-sized sedan will soon be discontinued. In other words, the tenth-generation Honda Accord that’s on sale right now will not see a replacement when it bows out.
Honda Malaysia MD and CEO Hironobu Yoshimura confirmed this just before presenting the face-lifted Honda City to local press earlier today. The exec didn’t elaborate on the reasons behind this decision, but we’ve spoken to other Honda Malaysia execs present today for a clearer picture.

Sadly, we won't see an eleventh-gen Accord enter the Malaysian market space.

For the 2024 model year cycle, Honda Malaysia will have just two traditional sedans on offer, those being the eleventh-gen Civic (left) and the smaller City (right).
According to our source, the decision to axe the Accord was prompted by the general decline of sales for the D-segment sedans in the local market. Said fact is further fuelled by ever increasing demands from consumers for crossover SUV alternatives at both similar price point and a segment down.
Moreover, this decline also makes it very difficult to justify a local assembly (CKD) effort. Presently, the tenth-gen Accord rolls off the line at Honda Malaysia’s plant in Pegoh, Melaka. Two variants are currently available, both sharing the same 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo 4-cyl petrol powerplants and priced from RM187,400.

In the Accord stead will be the new sixth-gen CR-V crossover SUV that's set to launch in Malaysia
in Q4 this year.
Whilst Honda Malaysia didn’t officially state when exactly CKD operations for the tenth-gen Accord will cease, the firm is widely expected to do so by end of this year. After which, the upcoming new generation CR-V crossover SUV is poised to take up the position as the passenger car flagship for the H-brand.
Speaking of which, the sixth-generation iteration of the staple CR-V crossover SUV is set to enter the Malaysian market sometime in the final quarter of this year. The model has already entered the Australian and Thai markets recently with both traditional combustion and hybrid powertrain options available.
In other words, Honda Malaysia will only have just two traditional sedans on offer come 2024, those being the face-lifted fifth-gen City that just launched earlier today, as well as the sleek and sporty eleventh-gen Civic.
