Audi RS E-Tron GT Ice Race Edition Debuts As 99-Unit Special
Audi RS e-tron GT Ice Race Edition debuts to commemorate Audi Sport's 40th anniversary
Audi is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its motorsporting arm – the Audi Sport GmbH. In commemoration of this four-decade milestone, the automaker has unveiled the limited-edition Audi RS e-tron GT Ice Race Edition, based on the e-tron GT Ice Race Concept previewed earlier this year.
Limited to only 99 units in Europe, this special RS e-tron GT gets its nomenclature from the famous GP Ice Race that is held in Austria during winter. As a result, it comes with intricate ice-themed exterior design, courtesy of its unique transparent-ish livery.
While the base exterior colour is the Florett silver metallic, the Ice Race Edition gets draped with a foil wrap with several transparent and white sections which are meant to imitate ice crystals. These decals are then paired with several purple accents inspired by the colour of polarised ski goggles, adding an extra pop of colour to this ice-themed EV GT.
In spite of this unique livery, the RS e-tron GT Ice Race Edition still rides on the same 21-inch all-black wheels found in the standard RS e-tron GT model, featuring double five spoke design.
On board, the RS e-tron GT Ice Race Edition continues its metallic theme here, as it comes with diamond silver trims on the seats with contrasting black leather upholstery and the purple stitching that matches the exterior’s accents. The Alcantara-wrapped steering is also donned with the same diamond silver mark on the top, while a special plate embossed with the vehicle’s serial number is placed near the central infotainment screen area.
The Ice Race Edition gets the same dual-motor setup as the standard RS e-tron GT
As for its powertrain, the RS e-tron GT Ice Race Edition is powered by the same dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup as the normal RS model, delivering a total system output of 590 HP, which can go up to 637 HP courtesy of the ‘boost mode’. In this driving mode, the RS e-tron GT can blast from nought to 100 KM/H in just 3.3 seconds, while its juices are provided by a sizable 93.4-kWh battery pack.
As we mentioned earlier, only 99 units of the limited-edition Audi RS e-tron GT Ice Race Edition will be made, and all of them will be exclusively sold only in the European markets. As standard, the German automaker has not disclosed the actual asking price for one of this special EV GT, but we’d reckon all of them are spoken for already.
The Audi RS e-tron GT is now on sale in Malaysia by PHSAM, from RM787,990!
While you might not stand a chance to get this special EV GT, at least you can ‘easily’ get the standard RS e-tron GT here in Malaysia, as PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM) recently debuted them into our market earlier this year. With each of them priced from RM787,990 excluding extra options and insurance, we’d reckon that this is the closest you can get to this special EV GT, should you have the means to own them…
