BYD Sold 1.25 Million Cars In H1 2023

BYD released its 2023 Preliminary Performance Report on August 28, highlighting the company's outstanding performance in the first half of the year. According to the report, BYD reported operating income of $35.858 billion, a significant 59.56% increase year on year.
According to Reuters, the carmaker achieved another significant milestone in the first half of 2023 by selling 1.25 million vehicles, an increase of 95.3% year over year and recording an increase of 181.47% to $1.51 billion. In the first half of 2023, BYD's gross profit margin will be 18.3% and its net profit margin 4.4%.

Although sales and production in China's automotive sector declined in the first half of this year, BYD's performance stands out in this context. BYD reported sales of 1.5178 million New Energy vehicles during the same time frame, an astounding 88.81% increase year over year. Notably, PHEV sales increased 91.4% year over year to about 757,700 units.
BYD is also looking into international markets as potential new growth markets. In comparison to the 55,900 cars sold abroad in 2022, BYD sold more than 92,400 vehicles from January to July of 2023, CarNewsChina reported.
Today, 54 nations and regions around the world, including Japan, Germany, Australia, Brazil, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates, offer the company's passenger cars. With the help of a complete industrial chain, BYD announced in July that it would be constructing three new factories in Brazil, speeding up the process of its global expansion.
On August 9, the automaker celebrated the production of its five millionth New Energy vehicle, which was a noteworthy accomplishment. This established BYD as the first automaker in the world to accomplish this feat, marking a significant turning point in the company's history.
