Cops Issued Summonses Worth RM302 Million From Jan-Aug This Year
Police collected 3.8 million summonses in total, worth an estimated RM302.4 million, between January and August of this year.
In comparison to the same period in 2022, when RM127.8 million was collected, this represents a more than twofold increase.
Director of the Federal Police's Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (TEID), Datuk Seri Mat Kasim Karim, claimed that the MyBayarSaman application was one of the factors contributing to the increased amount of data gathered.
The MyBayarSaman system reported a collection of RM37.59 million from 207,217 summons notices just last year.
In contrast, this year saw a total of RM169.28 million recorded with 2.43 million total summonses, according to data from MyBayarSaman, Kasim said.
He also stated that 1,338,956 motorists paid their tickets using the MyBayarSaman app in 2022 alone.
Due to the application's success, suggestions have been made to broaden its application to cover additional police payment-related issues, he added.
"I have made my recommendations to the inspector-general of police so that the MyBayar application can be expanded to cover renewal of firearm licenses, purchasing of copies of police reports and the renewal payments for scrap licenses.
"InsyaAllah we will expand the usage of this application with the TEID being the pioneer," he said.
