Launched: Rolls-Royce Spectre EV – 530 KM Range, 584 HP, RM2 Million* Base

All-new Spectre, the first Rolls-Royce to feature an all-electric powertrain, has made landfall in Malaysia!
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Kuala Lumpur (Quill Motorcars Sdn Bhd) marked a new era today after officially presenting the all-new and all-electric Rolls-Royce Spectre locally. The famed British luxury coachbuilder’s first ever full electric, ultra-luxurious ‘super-coupe’ was presented to press members in great detail, and there’s indeed plenty to note.
Standing as a spiritual successor to the Phantom Coupe, the Spectre sport similar sizing to which at 5,475 MM long with a 3,210 MM wheelbase, 2,144 MM wide, and 1,573 MM tall. It also has somewhat similar bulk, tipping the scales at 2,890 KG (kerb). The fact that the Spectre underpins an all-aluminium chassis platform derived from the Phantom and Cullinan perhaps explain its enormity too.

Presented as a spiritual successor to the Phantom Coupe, the Spectre certainly has the size - and bulk! - that's similar to which.
Adapted for electric power, this chassis houses a sizeable 102 kWh battery that weighs 700 KG. Mounted in the floor, it also provides 30% additional structural rigidity. Primarily, it juices a dual-motor setup that powers all four wheels with 584 HP and 900 NM, thus enabling the Spectre to waft from standstill to 100 KM/H in a mere 4.5 seconds.
Both regular AC and rapid DC charging inputs are accepted, the former as high 22 kW. As for the latter, up to 195 kW is possible, thus allowing 10-80% re-charges in just 34 minutes. Despite its size and bulk, the Spectre still boasts respectable EV range, with Rolls-Royce quoting a WLTP figure of 530 KM. Much of this also stems from the Spectre’s engineered low-drag design – 0.25 Cd.

584 HP and 900 NM stemming from a dual-motor setup sees the Spectre 'waft' 0-100 KM/H in just 4.5 seconds.

Striking signatures of the exterior include the Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament (left), and the massive optional 23-inch seven-spoke wheels (right) - the largest ever fitted in any production Rolls-Royce.
Evidently, the sleek design isn’t just for show, but there are plenty of traits to boost the Spectre’s kerbside presence. Key amongst which include distinct and signature Rolls-Royce hallmarks like the massive chrome front grille design, retractable Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament, all-new and all-LED forward and rear lighting featuring distinct patterns, as well as self-righting wheel centres.
Speaking of the wheels, the launch vehicle shown today rolled on striking two-tone seven-spoke wheels that measured 23-inches. In fact, these are the largest ever fitted in any production Rolls-Royce model to date. These, however, are optional as the Spectre is primed as standard with 22-inch wheels instead.

Another signature trait are the rearward-opening 'coach doors'. Measuring 1.5-metres long each, these also feature nifty 'assisted opening' and powered soft-closing abilities, the latter via press of a button.
Arguably, the most striking feature with any coupe-bodied Rolls-Royce are its signature rearward-opening ‘coach doors’. These are also brimmed with ‘assisted opening’ and powered soft-closing, the latter via touch of a button – nifty traits given the immense 1.5-metre length and weight of each door.
On board, the Spectre houses seating for four, with Rolls-Royce claiming this at being a proper four-seater cabin – NOT a 2+2. We’ve had a chance to try this out first-hand and we’re glad to report that full-sized adults – even tall, lanky ones such as this writer – won’t find life in the rear quarters uncomfortable nor cramped.

One notable option present here is the 'Starlight' illumination primed in the headliner, both doors, as well as the passenger side dash panel.
What’s certain is the unrivalled levels of luxury present through the rich use of high-end leather and fabrics all across the dash, doors, and seats matched with equally tasty high-end metal brightworks and wood veneer trims – all hand-crafted too. Featured in the launch vehicle is the optional ‘Starlight’ illumination in the headliner, doors, and passenger side dash panel.
In typical Rolls-Royce fashion, much of these in the cabin – as are the exterior’s paintwork – can be personalised to each customer’s desires through the marque’s immense catalogue of options. For those with greater flair for bespokery, fret not as the Spectre is also opened for bespoke commissions to suit any and all demands.

Key features that grant the Spectre with on-road driving talents include intelligent adaptive suspension, rear-wheel-steering, as well as an arsenal of semi-autonomous driver assistances, all brimmed as standard.
Despite the decadently plush innards promising unrivalled joy of being chauffeured around, the Spectre was also engineered to be driven pleasurably at the hands of avid drivers too. This is evident through things like intelligent adaptive suspension, rear-wheel steering, and a myriad of semi-autonomous driver assistances, all of which primed as standard kit.
Rolls-Royce even claims that all these were tried and tested thoroughly through pre-launch testing efforts, covering a whopping 2.5 million KM - roughly 62 roundtrips around the world, or 400 years of regular use. Certainly, this ought to bode well with Rolls-Royce’s offer of a 10-year, unlimited mileage warranty for the Spectre’s EV battery, and its usual four-year, unlimited mileage base vehicle warranty.
As for price and availability, there’s both good and bad news here, but we’ll be apt. Firstly, the Spectre commands a RM2 million base price EXCLUDING options, duties, taxes, and on-road costs. Given the current tax exemptions on fully imported (CBU) EVs, this MIGHT stand to be the most ‘affordable’ Rolls-Royce offering to go on sale officially in our market yet.

Keen to commission one? You'll not only need immense funds, but arguably equal amounts of patience too - deliveries will take a while!
However, whilst first global customer deliveries for the Spectre commences next month (Q4 2023), CariCarz.com has understood that customers commissioning one now might only have theirs delivered from 2025 onwards. Yes, besides immense funding, you’ll also need arguably equal amounts of patience to wait for delivery should you be fortunate enough to commission one despite immense demand for one.
For those with said means, perhaps it will all be worthwhile considering that, as far as luxury EVs go, this Rolls-Royce offering is arguably second to none. Check out more images of the Rolls-Royce Spectre in the gallery prepared below.
