The third-gen 3008 arrives in an all-electric guise, known as the Peugeot E-3008

The Peugeot 3008 SUV is entering a new generation this year, and for the first time ever, the marque’s C-segment SUV fighter will be getting a new all-electric guise, set to spearhead both Peugeot and Stellantis’s rapid electromobility adoption move.

Known as the Peugeot E-3008, this third-gen C-SUV not only debuts as Peugeot’s latest all-electric model, but it is also the first model under the Stellantis group to utilise its proprietary STLA Medium platform, which will later be shared with other brands under its huge umbrella.

Arriving with three powertrain specs and two trim levels, the baseline E-3008 Electric 210 variant is juiced by a 73-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery pack with a 400-volt architecture. With drive provided by a front-mounted (FWD) single motor setup rated at 210 PS (157 kW) and 343 NM, this base-spec E-3008 can go from nought to 100 KM/H in a fairly-leisurely 8.7 seconds, as well as a maximum EV range of 525 KM.

Moving on to the performance-biased variant, the E-3008 Electric 320 gets the same 73-kWh NMC pack that juices a peppier dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup rated at 320 PS (240 kW). As a result, the Electric 320 model’s century sprint time has been shortened to 6.4 seconds, while its maximum EV range is the same as the baseline model at 525 KM, in spite of weighing 85 KG more courtesy of the extra rear motor.

The Peugeot E-3008 Electric 230 Long Range variant boasts the higher maximum EV range of 700 KM

Should you have range anxieties, perhaps the Electric 230 Long Range variant suits better with you, as it is garnered with a larger 98-kWh battery pack that juices a single, front-mounted (FWD) electric motor with a slightly higher state-of-tune at 230 PS (170 kW). As its name suggests, this variant boasts the longest maximum EV range of up to 700 KM, while its heavier battery has slightly reduced its 0-100 KM/H performance, managing to finish said sprint in 8.9 seconds – the slowest of the three.

All three variants of the E-3008 will get the same AC 11 kW charging rate, with 22 kW rate offered as an optional upgrade. For DC fast charging, the E-3008 can support up to 160 kW rate, allowing the two 73-kWh-powered variants to be charged from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes, while the Long Range takes about 5 minutes more to reach the same state-of-charge.

The new E-3008 gets the same three-clawed LED signature as seen on the facelifted 2008

Visually, the E-3008 truly elevates the styling of its previous iteration, featuring Peugeot’s latest design language with a sportier stance. Up front, this EV SUV gets new three-clawed LED signatures that are placed below the actual headlights, with both  flanking its front grille that is donned with an enlarged Peugeot silver lion mark.

From the side, the new E-3008 gets a sportier coupe SUV silhouette, courtesy of its raking rear windscreen. As standard in many SUV crossovers, this EV SUV also comes with rugged plastic underbody cladding, while its sculpted wheel arches and snazzy wheel options –19-inch for Allure spec, 20-inch for GT spec – both add some sportiness to this already sporty-looking EV SUV.

At the rear, its LED taillights also come with the same three-clawed lighting signatures as the front ones, as well as sporty rear bumper accents and roof-mounted rear wing. In spite of its sporty facade, Peugeot managed to sneak in a 520-litre boot space in this sporty coupe SUV – granting it some practicality edge that is pretty scarce in this vehicle segment.

Peugeot's latest i-Cockpit layout features a futuristic-looking cabin design

On board, the E-3008 is primed with Peugeot’s latest i-Cockpit design, which we’ve covered meticulously in our previous report. But as a recap, the cabin is bestowed with an expansive 21-inch curved display mounted high up its front dash, which is controllable by 10 touch-sensitive buttons. Meanwhile, the conventional gear lever is being replaced with 'PRDN' button selectors instead – a bid to declutter the whole cabin space, Peugeot claims.

Aside from the all-electric E-3008, the third-gen Peugeot 3008 will also come in PHEV and HEV variants

The all-new Peugeot E-3008 compact EV SUV will be produced at Peugeot’s Sochaux plant in France, with deliveries expected to commence in selected European markets by the end of this year, followed by other global markets. Aside from this all-electric guise, the third-gen 3008 will also be offered with a slew of ICE variants, including a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and series-parallel hybrid (HEV) ones – both sharing the same STLA Medium platform.

So folks, what do you think of the all-new Peugeot E-3008 EV SUV? Keen to see Peugeot Malaysia (Bermaz Auto Alliance) bringing this sporty crossover into our markets some time in the future? As always, don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments down below…
