BMW M3 Touring Launched in Singapore – Malaysia When?
BMW Singapore sees its M performance line-up expanded today, as BMW Asia officially debuts the new BMW M3 Touring in the city-state. Debuting at the Singapore Motorshow 2023, the island republic becomes the first and only ASEAN country to receive the sporty M3 Touring, hopefully for now.
Our sunny neighbour down south is getting the top-spec M3 Competition Touring, which comes standard with the M xDrive all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.
As the first-ever M3 model to come in a wagon body style, the G81-gen M3 Touring offers a perfect balance of everyday practicality and sheer performance. Snuck beneath its front hood is a 3.0-litre straight-six M TwinPower Turbo mill that delivers 510 HP and 650 NM, which it shares with its sedan twin and the M4 Coupe.
This powerful engine joins forces with an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic gearbox with Drivelogic technology, which grants drivers three gearshift programs that are operable via paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Power is then sent to all four wheels via the M xDrive AWD system that works in tandem with the Active M Differential at the rear axle.
This, in all, grants the M3 Touring a nought to 100 KM/H sprint finish in only 3.6 seconds, while enroute to its governed V-max at 250 KM/H. Said top speed can be further improved up to 280 KM/H, should drivers opt for the add-on M Driver’s Package.
Aside from the M xDrive system, the M3 Touring also comes with other key M performance parts, such as its Adaptive M suspension, M Servotronic steering, M Traction Control, M exhaust system, as well as the M Compound braking system with an option to upgrade the standard brakes to M Carbon ceramic ones.
In terms of design, the M3 Touring boasts similar design elements from its sedan twin. This includes the signature BMW kidney grille, large side air intakes, flared wheel arches, as well as the carbon fibre rear diffuser. Adding more sporty elements to this already fierce-looking wagon is the gloss black trims around the car’s body and the rad quad tailpipes with controllable flaps that helps to generate the M3’s iconic sound.
This sporty tourer rides on 19 and 20-inch M light-alloy forged wheels, also finished in gloss black.
The M3 Touring cabin is primed with the latest BMW Curved Display powered by BMW OS8, consists of the 12.3-inch driver’s display with M-specific design, as well as the bigger 14.9-inch infotainment display with M-specific widgets built-in.
Drivers will also get a BMW head-up display with M-specific content, aside from the M Sports seats with M-badged steering wheel. Plus, there’s an option to upgrade the standard M Sports front seats for the racing-style M Carbon bucket seats, should one desire.
Topping-off the M3 Touring’s cabin amenities are the ambient lighting, BMW Maps and navigation system, three-zone climate control, as well as Harman Kardon surround sound system.
Safety features are definitely not lacking in this sporty wagon, as the M3 Touring is primed with advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features like Active Cruise Control, Front Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Control Assist, and many more.
The Singapore-bound 2023 BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive is primed for a hefty launching price of SG$560,888 (RM1,839,448), excluding the bidding cost for the regulation-required Certificate of Entitlement (COE), which by itself can cost around SG$100,000 to SG$120,000 (RM328,020 to RM393,624). For comparison, its sedan twin, the G80 M3 Competition is currently priced at SG$461,888 (RM1,514,611) – almost SG$100,000 cheaper than the Touring model.
As for now, the new BMW M3 Touring is not officially available in our local market. Should BMW Malaysia decides to officially bring them into our country, the estate M3 could fetch a higher price than the sedan M3. For the record, the M3 Competition is currently for sale at RM720,800, while the range-topping M3 Competition with M xDrive commands a higher price of RM827,800.
So, what do you think of this first-ever BMW M3 Touring? Keen to see the BMW M3 Touring rolling down our streets? As always, leave your thoughts in the comments down below…
