Next-Gen Mazda CX-5 Teased Ahead of July 10 Debut

Mazda has unveiled teaser images of the upcoming next-gen Mazda CX-5 ahead of its debut later on July 10.
It is no secret that Mazda is developing the next-gen version of its best-selling model, the Mazda CX-5. Following several rumours and leaked images, the Japanese automaker has finally published several teaser images of the upcoming SUV ahead of its debut later on July 10.

From these official teaser images, we can finally confirm that the leaked image of the new CX-5 is true after all. Some key design cues seen here are the new sharp LED headlights with dual signature DRLs and the slim LED taillights a la CX-60, to name a few.

In terms of the overall design, we can also see that the new CX-5 retains the same Kodo Design language as the current CX-5, featuring a sleek SUV bodystyle with an elongated front hood. Reports from Japan also suggest that the new CX-5 will be at least 110 mm longer than the current model, thus edging it closer to some of its popular and larger adversaries like the Honda CR-V, the Toyota RAV4, and the Hyundai Tucson.

Predictably, there’s not much to go along with the teaser photos, except for its aforementioned launch date of July 10 this year. That being said, the Hiroshima-based automaker previously confirmed that the new CX-5 will adopt the new Skyactiv-Z powertrain setup, possibly featuring a 2.5-litre 4-cyl nat-asp petrol engine and a hybrid system.
Thanks to the partial electrification assistance, the new CX-5 will likely pass stricter emission regulations, such as Euro 7. That being said, this also indirectly confirmed that the new CX-5 will be heading to Europe, besides other popular markets like native Japan and North America.

The new, third-gen CX-5 will be replacing the ongoing, KF-gen CX-5, which debuted way back in 2016. Already in its facelift form, this stylish SUV continues to be Mazda’s most popular model globally, with its cumulative sales figure exceeding 3.5 million units worldwide.
