BMW Takes To Fortnite To Tease Upcoming New iX2

BMW has teamed up with developers Epic Games to tease its upcoming iX2 in the latter's popular Fortnite title.
The upcoming new BMW iX2 coupe crossover is set to officially debut on 11 Oct. Though BMW has already released an official teaser hinting of said model’s new light-up front grille, the pre-launch teasing effort continues, this time in the realm of popular video game Fortnite.
The carmaker teamed up with the multi-platform multiplayer shooter’s developers Epic Games to create its own in-game island map. Through which, players will be able to customise their own digital version of the iX2, thus seeing the automaker being the first to allow players to customise a car in-game too.
Said configurator is located among the brand-relevant buildings and Easter eggs that litter the gameplay area, which BMW has dubbed ‘Hypnopolis’. More specifically, players will be able to locate and access to Car Creator under the double cone of BMW Welt.
To enable this, players will firstly have to unlock access to which by completing a series of challenges. Despite doing so, it is reported that players are still somewhat limited to what they can do, largely because BMW hasn’t fully revealed the new X2 and iX2 just yet.

Presently, customisation options are limited, but both BMW and Epic Games promise the customiser will be fully unlocked once the iX2 official debuts on 11 Oct.

Presently, the in-game vehicle is camouflaged, but players can still customise it with the limited number of ‘gamified’ paint schemes and wheel options, along with picking out their load-outs inside their trunk. This configurator will be fully unlocked for players after the model(s) officially debut on 11 Oct.
After customising their vehicles, players can explore Hypnopolis and play a storyline centred around the iX2. The island is filled with skyscrapers, floating bridges, green spaces, as well as the company’s headquarters, known as the “Four Cylinders,” BMW Welt, and the BMW Museum.
Keen to give this a go for yourselves? All you have to do is launch the game and use Island Code 3541-0917-2429 to enter Hypnopolis.
