New Ferrari 499P Modifcata arrives as a track-only special model based on marque's Le Mans winner

Months after clinching the historic centenary edition of the Le Mans endurance race, Ferrari has decided to give the triumphant 499P Hypercar a well-deserved homage, in the form of a track-only special model. Touted as the Ferrari 499P Modifcata, this track monster boasts even more performance than the marque’s Le Mans winner.

For starters, the 499P Modifcata is powered by the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 as its race car donor, which is then mated to a single electric motor at its front axle. No longer restricted to the stringent FIA WEC regulations, this V6 hybrid setup is now capable of delivering up to 858 HP, which includes a ‘Push to Pass’ system that provides an extra 161 HP at the press of a button.

Aside from the restriction-free powertrain, the 499P Modifcata also comes with bespoke Pirelli performance tyres, with its structure and compound derived from Formula One technology. Measuring 310/70-18 at the front and 340/70-18 at the rear, Ferrari is offering a set of dry slicks and custom rain tyres to each unit of the 499P Modifcata, allowing owners to take their race car for a spin in (almost) all weather conditions.

The 499P Modifcata boasts no significant design changes over its Le Mans-winning donor, featuring similar aggressive aero parts

On the visual front, the 499P Modifcata looks pretty much similar to its Le Mans-winning twin, with every piece of its bodywork crafted from lightweight carbon fibre. The only notable difference is on the livery design, where the 499P Modifcata swaps the yellow decals and accent for white ones. Still boasting the same exterior aero parts as the Le Mans car, the 499P Modifcata promises sheer downforce and aerodynamic performance, albeit Ferrari has yet to specify the exact figures.

On-board equipment of the 499P Modifcata is also the same as we saw on its Le Mans racer donor, which comes to no surprise since this special model is also a track-only car. Ferrari claims that they’re keeping the cabin ergonomics and equipment as close to the Le Mans car as possible to provide clients with exactly the same driving experience as those Le Mans drivers.

Plus, each unit of the 499P Modifcata comes standard with a two-year Sport Protipi Clienti programme provided by Ferrari. This program essentially provides owners with full track-side assistance support, on top of the logistics and maintenance of the car itself – further enhancing the ownership experience of this track monster.

Would you spend €5.1 million (RM25.623 million) for a Le Mans-derived track car?

As expected, the special edition Ferrari 499P Modifcata is not cheap, with each unit costing north of €5.1 million (RM25.623 million) before taxes and other additional charges. But then again, we’d reckon spending that amount of money might be an easier way to drive a Le Mans-winning race car, rather than training yourselves to be a professional racing driver.
