KLIA Aerotrains Is 90% Completed - Anthony Loke
Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook recently shared the progress of KLIA's new Aerotrains on his Facebook page, following the incident in which the Aerotrain service was discontinued due to several instances of malfunctioning. Loke mentions in the video that he recently travelled to Wuhu, China to check on the progress of the Aerotrains. The video shows that the first set of trains is almost ready, and the minister says it is almost 90% done.
The train apparently has the same layout as previous trains, but several seats for the elderly and those with mobility issues have been added. The windows were also made larger to allow for more light.

The video's caption also mentions that the trains could be delivered to Malaysia by next year. Anthony Loke urges MAHB to resolve the contract issues as soon as possible in order to facilitate this process and resume Aerotrain services.
For the record, Alstom and the China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CCRC) collaborated on the train assembly. The French multinational company Alstom, which specialises in rail technology, provided the trains for the LRT line in Kelana Jaya.
The aerotrain system is currently the subject of controversy because Malaysia Airports Berhad (MAHB) terminated the contract with Pestech Technology, the original contracted supplier, in August citing "Pestech's non-performance, compromising significant project milestones and risking delays in delivering the project within the required deadline," soyacincau reported.
