Proton Donate Engines To Key Higher Learning Institutions In Perak

Representatives from various Perak state higher learning institutions receiving their engines donates by Proton from YB Chang Lih Kang.
National carmaker Proton recently donated no less than seven units of its locally built 1.5 TGDi 3-cyl turbo petrol engines to a number of key higher learning institutions within the state of Perak.
In a special ceremony held last weekend as part of a Proton-organised cycling event at it Tanjung Malim facility, these engines were handed over to representatives of these institutions by Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and Member of Parliament for Tanjong Malim YB Chang Lih Kang.
Amongst the institutions receiving these engines were Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah, Behrang, Kolej Vokasional Slim River, Giat Mara Tanjong Malim and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Tanjong Malim.

A total of 7 engines were handed over to these institutions, which included the likes of Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah,G Giat Mara Tanjong Malim, as well as UPSI.
These engines will now grant students with first-hand training and build knowledge in engine servicing and development, thus helping to also align their skills with ever increasing and evolving industry demands and standards.
“We hope the engines presented today will help advance the training programmes at the institutions and help train future talents for Malaysia’s automotive industry,” said Proton CEO DR Li Chunrong during the handover ceremony presided over by YB Chang.
As a refresher, these 1.5-litre TGDi engines donated are built on a new climate-controlled production line at Proton’s Tanjong Malim plant, and is renowned for its advanced technology and performance. Said engine’s facility was inaugurated late last year.

Proton also honoured three student brothers from SMK Proton City for winning a Gold Medal at the World Young Inventions Exhibition (WYIE).
The same ceremony also saw Proton honouring a trio of student brothers from SMK Proton City for winning a gold medal at the World Young Inventions Exhibition (WYIE). On top of which, these brothers were also named Best Young Inventors for the Malaysian Young Inventions Exhibition (MYIE).
For these outstanding efforts, Proton awarded a sum of RM3,000 to 16-year-old Shameer Pandurar, 14-year-old Shaheer Pandurar, and 13-year-old Shazlan Pandurar. “Just like their parents, we are also proud of their achievement and hope this is a first step to doing more great things in the future,” adds Dr Li Chunrong.
