Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ekleipsis Debuts As Solar Eclipse-Inspired Special

New Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ekleipsis gets its inspiration from the solar eclipse phenomenon
Presented by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars (RRMC) in its utmost glorious form is the all-new Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ekleipsis – the latest limited edition model to be launched under the marque’s Private Edition series. As its name suggests, this 25 unit-only Black Badge Ghost features unique exterior and interior specifications inspired by the celestial phenomenon that is the solar eclipse.

For starters, the Ghost Ekleipsis is draped in a special hue called Dark Lyrical Copper with some specks of copper which Rolls-Royce called “powdered copper pigment” – both combined to give this car a unique iridescence effect. Contrasting against this dark copper base paint are some Mandarin-hued accents that are meant to represent the colour of the sun. This includes on its front bumper and its air intakes, the signature hand-painted coachline, centre caps of the wheels, as well as the brake callipers.

The Ghost Ekleipsis comes with unique Starlight Headliner that is shaped like the solar eclipse
The solar eclipse theme is much more prominent as we get inside the Ghost Ekleipsis cabin. Key amongst which is the animated Starlight Headliner with a black area in the middle surrounded by 940 stars and 192 more stars scattered further away. This 7 minute and 31 seconds animation is meant to replicate the event of the solar eclipse, which can be seen every time the doors are closed and the engine is started.

Aside from the stunning headliner, the car’s front dash is studded with 1,846 laser-etched stars that are arranged to represent the stages of a solar eclipse, while its aptly named “Panoramic Sunset”-themed perforated leather upholstery comprises of Mandarin and black hues are chosen to match the exterior colourway. Elsewhere, the Ghost Ekleipsis is also donned with RR’s special analogue timepiece featuring a shiny 0.5-carat diamond, while the signature door-mounted umbrellas now come in Mandarin colour as standard.

Based on the performance-focused Black Badge Ghost model, the Ghost Ekleipsis is powered by a 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 mill that delivers 592 HP. Power is then transferred to all four wheels (AWD) via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. In spite of boasting a pretty manic twelve-pot mill under its hood, the Black Badge Ghost Ekleipsis is still able to deliver the RR’s signature “magic carpet” ride comfort, thanks to its bespoke planar suspension setup.

Only 25 examples of the Black Badge Ghost Ekleipsis will be produced by Rolls-Royce
However, the solar eclipse homage does not end there, as the new Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ekleipsis made its debut very closely to the next solar eclipse event, which is forecasted to take place tomorrow on Oct 14 for the Western Hemisphere area. As expected, Rolls-Royce did not specify the asking price for this latest Private Collection model, with all 25 of them having already been allocated to “clients around the world.”
