McLaren 750S 3-7-59 Celebrates Marque’s ‘Triple Crown’ Triumph

McLaren is celebrating its racing ‘Triple Crown’ triumph by launching a special edition 750S 3-7-59
The ‘Triple Crown’ is often regarded as one of the most coveted achievements in motorsport, which is only granted to winners of the three most prestigious motor races in the world – the Indianapolis 500 (Indy 500), the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the Monaco Grand Prix. Throughout the century-spanning history of motorsport, only two automakers have successfully achieved this coveted triple crown, with one of them being renowned British racing outfit McLaren.

To commemorate its ‘Triple Crown’ triumph, McLaren has launched a special edition McLaren 750S 3-7-59, which is dubbed as the “most intensive project ever done by McLaren Special Operations (MSO).” Unveiled by current McLaren Formula One driver Lando Norris, current McLaren Indycar driver Pato O’Ward, and former McLaren F1 GTR race car driver Derek Bell, this special 750S comes wrapped in a commemorative livery that denotes the marque’s triumph in all three aforementioned racing disciplines.
Starting off with its peculiar name, the ‘3’ refers to the race number of the M16D driven by Johnny Rutherford at the 1974 Indy 500, while the ‘7’ is the race number used by Alain Prost during his win at the 1984 Formula One Monaco Grand Prix. And finally, the ‘59’ is from the McLaren F1 GTR that claimed victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995, which was piloted by Yannick Dalmas, Nasanori Sekiya, and JJ Lehto.

McLaren claims that this extensive ‘Triple Crown’ livery takes over 1,200 hours to be hand-painted. Up front, the special 750S model comes with red-and-white theme inspired by the legendary’ McLaren MP4/2 Formula One car, complete with Prost’s racing number #7 on the front hood. Meanwhile, the middle portion of the car is draped in the same grey livery that is used on the Le Mans-winning McLaren F1 GTR, though the iconic ‘Ueno Clinic’ decal is missing, for obvious reasons. Completing this unique livery design is the orange-and-blue theme at the rear end to match the marque’s 1974 Indy 500 winner.
Plus, MSO has also placed some easter eggs onto this unique livery design, including three QR codes linked to an online portal detailing the car. Other than that, this special edition 750S also comes with electrochromic brake lights with unique MSO emblem, a slew of silver leaf-wrapped accents, as well as blue, red and Le Mans gold-hued brake callipers that hide beneath the satin black-finished wheels.

On board, the special edition 750S gets several ‘Triple Crown’ homage, including an orange Triple Crown logo stitched into both the headrests and centre armrest. Meanwhile, the whole cabin is wrapped in graphite-hued Alcantara upholstery with white contrasting stitches, plus a slew of carbon fibre parts including the two racing seats and door sills. Speaking of which, the driver’s side of the door sill comes with a special plaque that celebrates the marque’s racing success.

Only six examples of this special edition 750S will be produced, with each of them already spoken for!
Only six examples of the special edition McLaren 750S 3-7-59 will be produced by MSO, with all models coming in either Coupe or Spider forms. Aptly, McLaren didn't bother to share the exact price tag for one of these special models, as all six of them have already been sold to buyers worldwide.
