Next-Gen Toyota Camry Details Unveiled Ahead of Nov 14 Debut

The current-gen (XV70) Toyota Camry is due for a next-gen upgrade this year in the US
The Toyota Camry is due for a next-gen upgrade, as Toyota USA set to reveal the latest version of its beloved midsize sedan later in Nov 14. Ahead of its first global unveiling, the Japanese automotive giant decides to give us some juicy details pertaining to this next-gen saloon.

New teaser image of the next-gen Toyota Camry released by Toyota USA
Published via Toyota USA’s official website, this single teaser image showcases what appears to be the rear part of the new Camry. While said picture seems pretty vague at first glance, there’s a few key details that can be extracted from it, particularly regarding the powertrain setup of this next-gen Camry model.
For starters, the new Camry carries the signature HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) badge with a blue circle emblem at the side, indicating that the next-gen model will be hybrid-powered. Said badge is accompanied by an AWD badge, which suggests that this new saloon model will get an all-wheel drive (AWD) setup. While previous Camrys have been offered in either a hybrid or an AWD form, the midsize sedan has never been offered with both together, with the AWD setup only offered to the full-ICE Camry previously.

The next-gen Camry could be powered by the same hybrid AWD setup used on the Crown Crossover
However, a hybrid AWD setup is not a new thing for Toyota, as the marque offers this powertrain setup to the new Toyota Crown Crossover. Said model is offered with either a 2.5-litre 4-cyl nat-asp hybrid setup or a peppier 2.4-litre 4-cyl turbocharged hybrid powertrain – both mated to Toyota’s proprietary E-Four all-wheel drive system and an eCVT automatic gearbox.
However, the automaker has yet to confirm whether the new Camry will get the same hybrid AWD setup as the Crown Crossover, so we’ll have to wait until Nov 14 for further confirmation.

The US-spec Toyota Crown Crossover is a fastback four-door saloon with a slightly 'lifted' look
More importantly, said teaser image is accompanied by a caption that reads “Toyota Camry raises to new heights with no compromises,” which has sparked debates within the automotive community. Some media outlets suggested that these words might indicate that the new Camry will boast a crossover-esque tall ride height, perhaps similar to what we’ve seen on the new Toyota Crown Crossover. But then again, those words might have just pointed towards the new Camry’s elevated performance and styling compared to its predecessor.

The next-gen Camry gets the same C-shaped LED DRLs as we saw on many newer Toyota models
Aside from this new rear-end teaser image, another teaser image of the new Camry surfaced online some time ago, showcasing the front part of the car. While most of the car is draped in shadow, at least we can see the illuminated C-shaped LED DRLs of the new Camry, which looks similar to other new Toyota models like the Prius and the Crown Sport SUV.
As we mentioned before, the all-new Toyota Camry is set to be unveiled for the first time later in Nov 14, where it will be immediately available for the US market. With Toyota Japan recently discontinued the current-gen Camry from its local market, it remains to be seen whether this next-gen model will make its way to both the Japan and other international markets, with global demands for sedans have plummeted for the past few years.
