Renault Says It Won't Sell Its EVs For A Low Price
French carmaker, Renault said that its electric vehicle unit Ampere, which it plans to list on the market next year, expects revenues of US$10.8 billion in 2025. The company set financial goals for the unit, including a breakeven point in 2025 and an operating margin of at least 10% by 2030.
Slower EV demand, choppy markets, and increased Chinese competition have complicated the plan, with sources close to the deal telling Reuters last month that CEO Luca de Meo's hoped-for valuation of €8 billion to €10 billion appeared overly optimistic.

Thierry Pieton, Renault's finance chief, told reporters ahead of the presentation that the company would not sell Ampere cheaply and that it had enough cash flow to keep financing it if it did not receive the valuation it desired for an IPO.
Renault recently revealed that the Ampere range of electric cars will be available. This line's first model is expected to hit the market in 2026. By 2026, the division wants to have 600,000 electric cars on the road. That's not where it ends. By 2031, it is hoped that this number will increase to one million vehicles, indicating a major move in the direction of sustainable mobility.

Ampere's lineup will include the Megane E-Tech, launched last year; the Scenic E-Tech, which goes on sale early next year; the upcoming Renault 5 that will be revealed early next year; and the Renault 4 to be launched in 2025. There will also be two additional vehicles, Renault said.
According to Pieton, Renault wanted to sell EVs for the same price as its gas-powered vehicles ahead of competitors, with larger EV models expected to catch up to price parity by 2027–2028 and smaller EV models within the next two years.

"We want to democratise EVs in Europe. We will reduce our costs to lower our prices, while improving our margins at the same time."
