Tesla Cybertruck Debuts in The US – Up to 845 HP, 756 KM Range
The long-awaited Tesla Cybertruck is finally ready to be delivered to customers in the US
Ever since making its first public appearance back in 2019, the larger-than-life Tesla Cybertruck has kept the whole EV world hyped and excited, with Tesla promising this quirky EV truck to boast crazy performance figures, on top of its extravagant look.
Four years on the road, we finally get to see this manic EV truck make its maiden debut in the US market. Arriving in three variants, the production version of the Cybertruck is noticeably different from what Tesla promised back in 2019.
For starters, the baseline Cybertruck RWD variant boasts a single rear-mounted electric motor setup with an undisclosed power setup. Set to arrive much later in 2025, this RWD model is capable of blasting from nought to 60 MPH (96 KM/H) in 6.5 seconds, while towing and payload capacities are capped at 1,134 KG and 3,402 KG respectively.
Moving on to the mid-specced Cybertruck AWD variant, this truck harnesses a peppier dual-motor AWD setup with a total system output of 600 HP (441 kW), allowing it to finish a 0-60 MPH sprint in just 4.1 seconds. Range is also improved at 547 KM, while opting for the range extender package stretches it further to 756 KM. This peppier motor setup also grants the Cybertruck AWD with better towing capabilities, now capable of hauling up to 4,990 KG of loads.
Meanwhile, the range-topping Cybertruck Cyberbeast comes with a triple electric motor setup – one at the front, two at the rear – granting this EV truck a stellar 845 HP (630 kW) total system output. Flat out, the Cyberbeast truck can do a 0-60 MPH sprint in just 2.6 seconds, en route to its V-max of 209 KM/H. This stellar power output also means that you sacrifice some range, with said figure now reads at 515 KM and 708 KM with the range extender.
Weird body styles aside, the Cybertruck's body work is built to withstand bullets!
Similar to the prototype, the production version of the Cybertruck still boasts the minimalist yet controversial body style. Futuristic wedges aside, Tesla has bolstered the Cybertruck’s stainless steel body work, so much so that the automaker actually showed a video of someone firing guns and rifles at the truck just to show how bulletproof they really are.
Unfortunately, Tesla didn't managed to keep up to its promise regarding the Cybertruck's pricings
Aside from that, Tesla also didn’t manage to buck up to its initial promise regarding the Cybertruck’s prices, promising an entry point of somewhere around the $40,000 (RM186,940) mark. Now already launched in the US, the baseline Cybertruck RWD starts at $60,990 (RM285,036), while both the AWD and range-topping Cyberbest models are tagged at $79,990 (RM373833) and $99,990 (RM467,303) respectively.
With its first deliveries already commenced, Tesla said the Cybertruck’s production is still far from its full scale, with the firm expecting things will go full-blown only by 2025. This could also means several folks might have to wait slightly longer before getting the first taste of this long-awaited EV pick-up truck, but at least they are finally not in the dark about it.
