The Honda E Is Getting Axed In 2024
The quirky yet stylish Honda E all-electric hatch will be axed next month, confirms Honda.
The pint-sized but stylish all-electric Honda E hatchback is set to reach the end of its production life soon with no successor in sight. That’s because its demise from Honda’s line-up will make way for more electrified SUVs, which is what the current market climate is like for EVs worldwide.
Honda reportedly confirmed this by publishing a notice on its Japanese website advising customers that production of the Honda E will end in Jan 2024, and “sales for which will be discontinued once the production quantity is sold out.”
First previewed as the Urban EV concept in 2017, the Honda E entered production in 2020 and reportedly saw 5,500 units shifted in the EU between 2021 and 2022.
Despite its relatively short life cycle, Honda did acknowledge that the EV hatch “brought many new customers to the brand with its distinctive design, advanced technology and driving dynamics”. The model was first previewed as the Honda urban EV concept in 2017 before entering production in 2020.
As a refresher, the Honda E sees its chassis house a 35.5 kWh lithium-ion battery unit that juices a single rear-mounted motor that outputs between 134 HP and 152 HP plus 315 NM to drive its rear wheels. Altogether, this setup saw a maximum WLTP range between 210 KM to 220 KM.
The Honda E packed a 35.5 kWh battery that juiced a rear-mounted - and rear-driven - motor outputting between 134 HP and 152 HP plus 315 NM. This setup saw a claimed WLTP range of between 210 KM and 220 KM.

Though small in size, the Honda E wasn't short on both tech and versatile practicality. However, it was very pricey.
Just 5,500 units of the Honda E were reportedly sold in Europe between 2021 and 2022 – roughly half of the Honda’s targeted annual 10,000 deliveries. As a result, orders for the Honda E have since closed in both the UK and European markets. In its place now is the new Honda e:Ny1 crossover that debuted this year.
Closer to home, the Honda E isn’t offered officially through Honda Malaysia, but a handful are available through specialist parallel importers. Clearly, if you favoured this all-electric city hatch over the rivalling MINI Electric, this is perhaps your last chance to snap one up from the local recond market.
