New BYD Yuan UP Leaks Online – Meet The Atto 3’s Little Brother

Thanks to the ever resourceful CarNewsChina, we’re now given the first glimpse of the latest all-electric compact crossover from Chinese EV-making giants BYD. Called the Yuan UP, this is essentially the BYD Atto 3’s ‘little brother’ of sorts.
Set to debut within the first half (1H) of next year (2024), the Yuan UP these leaked images are supposedly part of documents submitted by the carmaker to China’s Ministry of Information Technology. Said agency is the last stop in the homologation process before any new car goes on sale in China.
Unlike the Atto 3, the Yuan UP has a smaller footprint – ,4310 MM long with a 2,620 MM wheelbase, 1,830 MM wide, and 1,675 MM tall. As far as product positioning, the Yuan UP falls under BYD’s Dynasty EV series, which includes the recently unveiled Song L.
Plainly though, it appears the Yuan UP will perhaps stand as a slightly larger and lifted SUV-shaped alternative to the BYD Dolphin hatch. It will sport several key amenities such as an optional panoramic sunroof, rear spoiler, and the choice between 16- or 17-inch wheel sizes.

In terms of footprint, the Yuan UP will be closer to the Dolphin than the Atto 3. It will also sport several notable bits like an optional panoramic sunroof, 16- and 17-inch wheel sizes, as well as a rear spoiler. (Images: CarNewsChina)
Like the Atto 3, the Yuan UP harnesses a single front-mounted electric motor that reportedly developed either 93 HP (70 kW) or 174 HP (130 kW) – the former likely derived from the BYD Dolphin. A kerb weight figure between 1,430 Kg and 1,540 KG is expected, as well as a limited V-max of 160 KM/H.
According to CarNewsChina, said motors are sourced from subsidiaries Hefei BYD Automobile Co, whereas the signature ‘Blade’ LFP-type battery pack comes from another subsidiary called Wuwei Findream Co.
Details remain scare beyond what we’ve just conveyed, but the model’s targeted release within the 1H of 2024 means we may not have long to wait for which.

According to reports online, the BYD Yuan UP is set to debut officially in the Chinese home market within the 1H of 2024. (Image: CarNewsChina)
As the smallest offering in BYD’s Yuan model range, the Yuan UP is reportedly expected to command price tag below the RMB 100,000 (approx. RM66,195.50) mark once it enters the Chinese home market.
The prospects of overseas market export for the Yuan UP remains unclear for now, but given the stellar success of the Atto 3 and Dolphin, we won’t discount the possibility of which just yet. What do you folks think of the Yuan UP then? Could this be something you yearn for in the near future?
