This Jacked-Up Nissan Disaster Support Van Is Heading to TAS 2024

Nissan is heading to the Tokyo Auto Salon 2024 with this special Disaster Support Mobile-Hub van
The Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS) is coming back next month, gathering all kinds of customised and modified automobiles the Land of the Rising Sun has to offer. Among the biggest participants are Nissan, who is poised to display some of its latest and greatest offerings on the table.
Aside from its new Formula E challenger and bunch of Nismo models, the Yokohama-based marque is also showcasing a disaster support van, cordially known as the Nissan Disaster Support Mobile-Hub. Based on the Nissan Caravan/Urvan NV350 panel van, this jacked-up van comes with tons of support equipment that helps it to become a mobile support hub in the event of disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and many more.

Among the equipment primed on this van include several portable batteries borrowed from the Nissan Leaf EV, an extended roof rack with spotlights and solar panels, as well as a display panel that broadcasts essential information such as the current weather conditions, disaster locations on the map, and many more.

While Nissan has kept most of the details under the wrap, it appears that the van also comes with a built-in ramp and side steps at its tailgate, plus several other essential disaster equipment. With the van equipped with EV batteries, we could also assume that the Disaster Support Mobile-Hub could serve as a mobile electric generator that helps to provide power in disaster areas or in case of power outages.
Similarly, Nissan has also kept its lips tight regarding the powertrain and mechanical specs of this jacked-up van. For reference, the Japan-spec NV350 Caravan comes in either a petrol or diesel form, with the latter being the 2.5-litre 4-cyl turbodiesel mill shared with the Nissan Navara pick-up truck. Aside from the lift kit that helps to raise the van’s ground clearance, there’s nothing more we can tell about the mechanical upgrades this Disaster Support Mobile-Hub harnesses over its bare-boned donor.

Alongside the Nissan Disaster Support Mobile-Hub van, Nissan’s lineup at the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon 2024 also consists of several Nismo models such as the GT-R Nismo and Skyline Nismo, the Nissan e-4ORCE 04 Formula E racecar that’s currently competing in 2023-2024 season of the Formula E Championship, plus a mysterious crossover concept known as the Nissan X-Trail Crawler Concept.
For more details regarding both the Disaster Support Mobile-Hub van and the X-Trail Crawler Concept, we may just have to wait for the Tokyo Auto Salon 2024 to raise its curtains, which is due to take place from Jan 12 to 14, 2024, taking place at the Makuhari Messe, Chiba, Japan.
