Triple Eight JMR Makes Promising ALMS Debut in Sepang
Triple Eight Johor Motorsport Racing (JMR) team makes promising debut in the Asian Le Mans Series 2023/24 season, with the first two rounds took place at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit
The Triple Eight Johor Motorsport Racing (JMR) kicks-off its Asian Le Mans Series (ALMS) debut on a positive note, with the racing outfit bagged P7 and P6 in the double-header opening rounds for the 2023/2024 season, held at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit (SIC).

Drivers Tunku Abdul Rahman, Luca Stolz and Broc Feeney managed to pilot home the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo race car to a respectable P7 finish for the incident-packed Race 1. Fortunately, things were more smooth-sailing for the Austral-Malaysian racing outfit for Race 2, as they managed to bag an improved P6 finish.
Summarising the weekend’s performances, Stolz said the team achieved pretty much all they set out to do for their debut race in Asian Le Mans.
“I think it was a good get-together for the team, Asian Le Mans is new for them, the regulations are really strict and you really have to be spot on. But yeah, I P7 and P6 are still in the top 10, which was almost the maximum we could do.”
Riding on these positive outcomes from Sepang, Stolz hoped that the team could strive better for the next few rounds of the ALMS, with the German driver aiming for podium finishes in the upcoming events.
“Still, we try to get a podium for sure, hope we can improve a little bit more towards Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and then we should be able to win races,” the German racing driver added.
The 4 Hours of Sepang double-header serves as the curtain-raiser for the 2023/2024 ALMS season, with the series set to continue later in Feb 2024 at the Dubai Autodrome in UAE for the 4 Hours of Dubai third round. The series will reach its penultimate moment later in Feb 10 and 11 next year, with the final double round taking place at the infamous Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Featuring two prototype classes – LMP2 and LMP3 – as well as a single GT class, the Asian Le Mans Series is the top endurance racing series in the region. This top-flight regional endurance series dated all the way back in 2009 as the spiritual successor to the defunct Japan Le Mans Challenge.
Prior to its debut in this season’s ALMS championship, the Triple Eight JMR racing outfit previously competed in several regional GT and endurance racing series including the GT World Challenge Asia, Bathurst 12 Hours, and many more.
