‘AMY 1’ Car Plate Number, Highest Bid Worth RM400K

The Perak Road Transport Department recently issued its vehicle registration plate number 'AMY 1' which was found to be the highest among others.
According to the local news, throughout the five-day bidding period, ‘AMY 1’ vehicle registration plate number was worth RM 400,000 which has been paid by one of the bidders that present that day.
It further claims that the bid value exceeded the number plate of the 'AKU' series vehicles such as ‘AKU 8055’ and ;AKU 1’ which were previously issued in August 2017. Plate number ‘AKU 8055’ was bid at a price of RM74,000 while RM207,898.90 for ‘AKU 1’.
Director of JPJ Perak, Mohammad Yusoff Abustan also stated that after ‘AMY 1’ registration plate numbers, ‘AMY 2’ to ‘AMY 9’ were each bid at a price of more than RM80,000 each.
"JPJ managed to collect a bid of RM6 million for the 'AMY' series registration number at the session which ended on April 13," he said.
It is understood that the bids opened through the Online Vehicle Registration Number Bidding System (JPJeBid) also surpassed the previous 'AMG' series plate registrations which were described as average 'Mercedes Lover' bidders (users of Mercedes Benz brand vehicles).
"With the current 'AMY' series, I see a 'trend' where people are making a lot of money considering that almost all the popular numbers have been bid and owned," the director commented.
Thus, the successful bids required to be registered to a vehicle within 12 months of the offer letter issued by the JPJ, while the remaining unbid numbers would be open to the public at the minimum price set.
