BYD e2 Launched - Lifetime Powertrain Warranty
-full_normal.jpg)
The latest addition in the BYD’s Ocean lineup, the BYD e2 was recently launched in China at an attractive starting price of USD14,950 (RM66,000). More interestingly all initial BYD e2 sold would be offered a LIFETIME WARRANTY on its powertrain system.
Similar to the BYD Atto 3 and most recent BYD models, the BYD e2 would be built based on the e-Platform 3.0 underpinnings. However, the e2 would be slightly smaller than the Honda City or Toyota Vios in comparison sporting a length of 4260mm, width 1760mm, height 1530mm with a wheelbase of 2600mm.

The BYD e2 would feature some design ques similar to the Atto 3 based on the images especially the closed grille and the continuous dark panel bar extension from its headlights. We are pretty sure this can be swapped with an actual light-up bar from the other models.
Inside, the e2’s dash design looks almost similar to the Atto 3, sporting a tri-spoke flat bottom steering wheel. It would also carry a 12.8-inch rotatable mid-dash infotainment screen. As for the instrument cluster panel, it would be 8.8-inch in diameter. The BYD e2 would also come with modern access functions such as NFC key-card and a Bluetooth key.

The BYD e2 would be powered by a 43.2-kWh LFP Blade battery mated to a rather small 95-hp electric motor. However, where it lacks in power, it surely makes up for with its range as the e2 has a claimed CLTC range of 405 KM. This would be an excellent daily commuter and perfect for the taxi and e-hailing industry.
There would be two variants of the BYD e2 offered in the Chinese market, which would only differ in terms of trim level. The highest trim spec would be USD15,950 (RM70,000). Both variants would as mentioned before offered with a lifetime powertrain guarantee. Guess Sime Darby Beyond Auto, the importers of BYD in Malaysia could consider bringing this model in to cater for the local taxi and e-hailing industry. The special tax exemptions for taxi’s would make this model as attainable as other offerings in the industry.
