Chery Malaysia: Over 4,500 Units Sold In 2023, Omoda 5 Stands As Best-Seller
2023 proved to be a groundbreaking year for Chery Malaysia as the Chinese marque marked its re-entry into the local market.
Earlier today, Chery Malaysia held a press briefing where it recapped its 2023 efforts and detailed some of its plans for the new year too. Despite its sales operations starting late in second half (H2) of 2023, the sales figures revealed by Chery Malaysia proved stimulating.
The firm would end 2023 having shifted a total of 4,501 units of both its Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro crossover SUV offerings. Naturally, the smaller and more affordable Omoda 5 B-segment SUV holds the lion share here – roughly 80% of said total.
Despite launching rather late in July 2023, both sales of the Omoda 5 (left) and Tiggo 8 Pro (right) proved stimulating - over 4,500 units were shifted in just four months.

Naturally, the smaller and more affordable Omoda 5 B-segment SUV stood as the best-seller, accounting for roughly 80% of the total mentioned.
As a refresher, both the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro were launched simultaneously back in July last year, the former priced at RM108,800 (C) and RM118,800 (H), whilst the latter model is tagged at RM159,800. Customer deliveries, on the other hand, commenced in Sept 2023.
Regarding its network, recent expansion efforts – particularly in the Peninsula’s East Coast – sees the brand now boasts 18 3S and 4S outlets nationwide plus a further 14 1S and 2S outlets. Included amongst them too is no less than 10 B&P centres.
Chery Malaysia also saw its recent network expansion in JB (left) and Kuantan (right). It now boasts 32 outlets in total, with 18 of which being 3S and 4S centres. These are set to grow further in 2024.
Looking ahead into 2024, Chery Malaysia detailed plans to expand this network significantly and raise the total outlets from 32 to 48. This is slated to happen in stages, and the focus will be raising the number of 3S and 4S centres from 18 to 34.
Concurrently, said expansion of 3S and 4S outlets will also see the number of B&P facilities raised from 10 to 16. Chery Malaysia adds that this will be done through strategic partnerships with the aim of futureproofing itself through scalability plus training and skills development.
Besides the all-electric Omoda E5 and Tiggo 7 Pro, Chery Malaysia also confirmed a third new model slated for arrival in Q4 with "high-volume" aspirations.

While the Omoda E5 is slated to launch in March, the Tiggo 7 Pro will debut after which.
On the products side of things, Chery Malaysia is set to expand its line up further with the introduction of its first electric vehicle (EV) in the form of the Omoda E5. This all-electric twin to the Omoda 5 was already previewed prior, and it is set for launch sometime in March.
After which, Chery Malaysia also confirmed plans to introduce the Tiggo 7 Pro crossover SUV circa the second quarter (Q2). Said model was first previewed back in late 2022, and it’s positioned to bridge the gap between the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro models.
We're certain the mystery third new model will be the Tiggo 4 Pro. This sub-compact crossover SUV will likely rival against the Honda WR-V, Proton X50, and the Perodua Ativa.
Beyond which, Chery Malaysia also confirmed a third new offering is in the pipelines, but this will only arrive much later in the fourth quarter (Q4) of this year. Chery Malaysia didn’t name this model outright, but did hint of its position as a high-volume seller.
Though a veiled silhouette was shown in a presentation slide, we’re fairly certain it is the Tiggo 4 Pro. Given the firm’s “high-volume” aspirations for which, we’re certain this will rival against the likes of the Honda WR-V, Proton X50, and perhaps the Perodua Ativa too.
