GWM Ora 07 Set to Debut in Malaysia – 2 Specs, Seal/M3 Prices

According to our insider source from GWM Malaysia, the Ora 07 EV is bound to make its Malaysian debut later this year.

Months after making its debut in the Kingdom just north of us, the GWM Ora 07 EV saloon is poised to make its landfall in our local market. As indicated by an insider source from GWM Malaysia, this EV saloon will debut here later this year, set to go against the likes of the Tesla Model 3 and the upcoming BYD Seal.

According to said source, the Ora 07 will be offered in two trim levels for our local market, those being the baseline ‘Long Range’ and the range-topping ‘Performance’ variants. As for its exact specs, we can expect them to mirror their Thai counterparts, with the baseline LR model getting a single, front-driven (FWD) electric motor setup rated at 204 PS and 340 NM.

Meanwhile, the top-specced Performance model gets a peppier dual-motor, all-wheel drive (AWD) setup, boasting a total system output of 408 PS and 680 NM. This figure translates to a decent 0-100 KM/H performance of 4.3 seconds, while its V-max is capped at 180 KM/H.

On the battery front, both variants of the Ora 07 share the same 83.5-kWh LFP battery pack, which grants the LR model a claimed maximum range of 600 KM (WLTP). As expected, the peppier Performance model sacrifices some of its maximum range for better performance, with its claimed WLTP range capped at 495 KM instead.

Upon making its local market entry, the Ora 07 will face fierce competition from both the Tesla Model 3 (left) & the upcoming BYD Seal (right) EV saloons.

These performance and range figures have put the Ora 07 on par with its future local rivals, those being the new Tesla Model 3 facelift as well as the upcoming BYD Seal. While we haven’t got the exact local spec for the latter, the former Sino-American EV saloon comes in both Standard and Long Range trim levels, boasting a maximum WLTP range of 513 KM and 629 KM, respectively.

Interestingly, our insider has also informed us that the GWM Ora 07 will make its local arrival very soon, with the EV saloon slated to make its landfall as early as Q1 this year, possibly around March. Eyeing both the Seal and Model 3, we can expect the Ora 07 to be priced within the same range as its fellow rivals, which is around the RM180,000 to RM220,000 region.
