Malaysia First Dedicated NEV Plant Breaks Ground In Rembau

NexV Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (NMSB) successfully broke ground for Malaysia's first dedicated NEV production and assembly plant in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan earlier today.
Earlier today, NexV Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (NMSB), a joint venture between Careplus Group Berhad and GoAuto Group Sdn Bhd, successfully broke ground for Malaysia’s first dedicated New Energy Vehicle (NEV) production and assembly plant in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan.
Said groundbreaking ceremony saw Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar YAB Datuk Seri Haji Aminuddin Bin Harun in attendance. The site for this new NEV plant sits on a plot within Rembau disttrict’s fast developing Chembong Industrial Area.
Altogether, NMSB is set to invest roughly RM600 million into the development of this new dedicated NEV plant in Rembau.

The plant is set to enter its first phase of operation by Q1 2025 with an annual output capacity of 30,000 vehicles.
Set to become operational by 2025, Malaysia’s first dedicated NEV manufacturing and assembly plant by NMSB aims to output 30,000 vehicles annually. It will primarily be tasked with assembling models from Chinese EV marque NETA that’s distributed by Intro Synergy Sdn Bhd.
Besides the NETA brand, NMSB also plans to open the facility for completely knocked down (CKD) assembly operations for passenger and commercial electric vehicles (EVs) or electric motorcycles from other brands.
Aside from NETA, other NEV brands presently confirmed for assembly through this upcoming new facility includes HIGER and YUTONG.
The first phase of this project sees the development of an assembly plant that’s set to begin operations in first quarter (Q1) of 2025. The second and third phases will begin in 2026 and 2028 respectively, and it aims for a larger production capacity of 50,000 vehicles annually.

Central to its initial operations will be the local assembly (CKD) efforts for the NETA V distributed by Intro Synergy Sdn Bhd.

Besides the NETA brand, NMSB is set to open the plant up for CKD operations to other brands too. Presently, both the HIGER and YUTONG marques will see its offerings assembled here too.
Moreover, this initial phase is also poised to create over 600 skilled and semi-skilled jobs with specialisation in EV manufacturing. Recruitment for which is set to commence as early as Aug this year, according to NMSB.
Central to this plant’s operations will be its adoption of smart manufacturing technologies. It includes automation, system integration, robotics, cloud-based plant management, industrial IoT and other synonymous Fourth Industrial Revolution tech.
Additionally, the plant will also utilise eco-friendly solutions and tech that produces zero wastewater discharge and zero noise pollution, whereas solid waste will be processed through recycling centers within the facility.
Furthermore, a significant portion of the plant’s energy supply will be harnessed through solar panels primed on the roof of the plant.

Besides creating over 600 skilled and semi-skilled jobs in its initial phase, NMSB also notes the plant's adoption of smart manufacturing tech, as well as various eco-friendly solutions, in its operations.
”We would like to thank all stakeholders including federal and local authorities, local residents and all of our business partners. We hope that with the assembly of NETA V model, more Malaysians will be able to accept and support the products produced by Chembong", said Careplus CEO, Lim Kwee Shyan, at the groundbreaking ceremony held earlier today.
“We believe that this represents a significant stride towards fostering greater acceptance and awareness of electric vehicles in the future," adds Go Auto Chairman, Dato' SM Azli SM Nasimuddin Kamal, who was also present earlier today.
