Mazda CX-5 Facelift Leaks Online, Launches Officially On Jan 30

Overseas market version pictured. Expect the refreshed second-gen Mazda CX-5 for Malaysia to have similiar appearance.
As reported prior, Bermaz Auto is set to see its 2024 efforts led by no less than four new SUV offerings, and we now have confirmation that the face-lifted Mazda CX-5 will kick things off this month. The latter is evident through the firm’s recent social media posts (Facebook and Instagram) confirming its Jan 30, 2024 launch date.
Ahead of which, it appears an enterprising dealer has taken the initiative to ‘tease’ the refreshed C-segment SUV offering on social media. As you can see from the embedded Facebook video below, we get perhaps an early and decently good look at the refreshed Malaysia-spec CX-5 model.
Like before, the CX-5 is set to be locally assembled (CKD) at the Inokom plant in Kulim, Kedah, and see no less than five variants available. Prices remain unconfirmed for now, though leaked price brochures on social media indicates the range will be priced between RM154,779.20 and RM199,470.40.
As detailed prior, we can expect the refreshed second generation CX-5 model to feature a number of subtle styling tweaks. Evidently clear are the restyled head- and taillights, a bolder new grille design, revised front and rear bumpers, and new alloy wheel designs.

Screengrabs of the dealer's 'teaser' video posted on Facebook showing some of the key exterior design changes like the new head- and taillights, grille, and front and rear bumpers.
On board, we can also expect slight styling tweaks to the cabin, which likely reflects upgraded kit and features too. Depending on variant, we can expect a newly added wireless smartphone charging pad, and an upgraded infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay plus wired Android Auto across the range.
In terms of safety, the revised Mazda CX-5 is also expected to see its active driver assist (ADAS) suite beefed up with several new additions. It should include things like Cruise & Traffic Support (CTS) function, which promises to make this staple C-segment crossover SUV much easier for daily driving.

More screengrabs of the same 'teaser' video posted on Facebook. On the left, we can see one key new addition, than being a wireless smartphone charging pad, in the centre stack.
Based on the leaked price brochure, expect the revamped CX-5 to retain the same powertrain choices as before. Included are both a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre and 2.5-litre Skyactiv-G petrol 4-cyl, a peppier 2.5-litre turbocharged option, as well as 2.2-litre turbo-diesel 4-cyl option.
All will be paired with Mazda’s signature Skyactiv-Drive 6-speed automatic transmissions, but only range-topping 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol variant is set to offer all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup primed. All other variants will feature the traditional front-wheel-drive (FWD) setup instead.

Bermaz is expected to retain the same petrol and diesel 4-cyl powertrains as before in this refreshed version. More details should arise once the face-lifted Mazda CX-5 officially launches this month on Jan 30.
Apart from what we’ve detailed, there isn’t much else to note, so expect more once brand custodians Bermaz officially introduces it later this month. In the meantime, what do you folks think? Keen on the refreshed CX-5? Or would consider rivals like the newly-launched Honda CR-V instead?
As usual, share your thoughts in the comments below, as well as our social media pages…
