Launched: 2025 Mazda CX-80 – 1 CBU Variant, PHEV Powertrain, RM330,000

Also launched alongside the new Mazda CX-60 is its larger new CX-80 twin.

Next to the CX-60 detailed prior, Bermaz Motor (BAuto) also expanded the local Mazda line-up with said new model’s three-row twin called the CX-80. Just one fully imported (CBU) variant is on offer for which too, but it has an electrified twist to boot.
As a refresher, both the new Mazda CX-80 and CX-60 share the same new Mazda Large Products Technology platform base. This brings larger, peppier rear-wheel-drive (RWD) powertrain, increased vehicle size, as well we higher tech and luxe levels.
And whilst the CX-60 takes on premium segment staples like the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3 and Audi Q5, the CX-80 instead goes up against three-row contemporaries to which like the Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7.

For Malaysia, the CX-80 see just one fully imported (CBU) variant on offer, but it also boasts an electrified twist.

Priced at RM330,000 nett (excluding insurance and on-road costs), the CX-80 arguably holds tremendous value for money versus its rivals mentioned. This also comes despite the fully imported (CBU) status the CX-80 holds.
And before you ask, the price does include Bermaz’s signature 5-year or 100,000 KM warranty and free maintenance package. Included too is a separate 8-year or 160,000 KM high voltage (HV) warranty.

The CX-80 launched by Bermaz packs a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) heart that boasts 323 HP and 500 NM combined, as well as up to 65 KM of electric range.

Notably, the Mazda CX-80 for Malaysia adopts a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. It consists firstly of a 2.5-litre 4-cyl VVT petrol mill, followed by a PHEV e-motor and 17.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Altogether, combined outputs read at 323 HP and 500 NM.
Paired with said powerplant is an 8-speed automatic transmission plus an all-wheel-drive (AWD) suite. Notably, Mazda also touts a combined fuel economy rate as low as 1.6 litres/100 KM from this electrified powertrain.
Additionally, the setup also promises up to 65 KM of all-electric range. As for charging, the battery pack mentioned accepts AC charging input as high as 7.2 kW, which in turn promises 0-100% re-charges in 2 hours 30 minutes.

Aesthetically, the CX-80 shares similar 'Kodo Design' touches seen in the CX-60 model.

In terms of footprint, the CX-80 and CX-60 share the same 1,890 MM width, but the former sits both longer and taller at 4,995 MM and 1,705 MM. It also has a longer 3,120 MM wheelbase and a heavier 2,342 KG claimed kerb weight.
Regarding exterior design, the CX-80 is also styled with a grander and more upmarket rendition of the marque’s signature ‘Kodo Design’ ethos. Distinct LED head-and taillights, prominent new grille, as well as 20-inch rolling stock, are all accounted for here.

On big difference here is of course the CX-80's offer of three-row seating for six in 2-2-2 layout featuring a pair of power-adjustable second-row Captain Seats that also boasts heating and ventilation functions.

Moving into the cabin and, aptly, if you liked how the two-row CX-60 model looked and felt here, then you’ll certainly appreciate the CX-80’s innards. The biggest difference here is of course its three-row, six-seat (2-2-2) layout.
Key highlights sees both first- and second-row seats, the latter being ‘Captain Seats’, boast 10-way power-adjustment, as well as both seat heating and ventilation functions. We’ll add that the second-row Captain Seats mentioned also boasts power-reclining function too.

Other key features accounted for include 12.3-inch digital instrumentation and touchscreen infotainment, Bose audio suite, plush Nappa leather upholstery, glass sunroof, and more.

That aside the tech features and amenities primed aboard the CX-80 largely mirror what we saw in the CX-60 launched alongside. It includes key basics like keyless entry and ignition, as well as automatic multi-zone climate control with rear vents.
As for displays, you’ll find a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, head-up display (HUD) module, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus 360-degree surround view camera with see-through function.
Also accounted for here is a 12-speaker Bose audio suite, wireless charging pad, up to six USB-C charging ports, a glass sunroof, as well as a powered tailgate, amongst many others.
Bookings for the Mazda CX-80 are now opened at all authorised dealerships nationwide.

Moving to driver assistance, the CX-80 again mirrors the CX-60 here as it includes radar cruise control with stop-go function plus cruising and traffic support, lane-departure warning and keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, front and rear smart brake support, driver attention alert, as well as front and rear cross-traffic alert.
Lastly, the CX-80 also sees five exterior colour choices available – Melting Copper, Artisan Red, Rhodium White, Jet Black and Platinum Quartz. Bookings are now opened at all Mazda dealerships nationwide.
