BYD Seal EV – Over 1,300 Bookings Garnered in Four Days

Sime Darby Motors racks up over 1,300 bookings for the new BYD Seal EV in just four days after its launch.
Sime Darby Motors (SDM) has announced that bookings for the newly-launched BYD Seal EV have reached more than 1,300 units in just four days since making its debut last week. This follows up on our previous report, where the Seal charted over 800 bookings in the first two days of its launch here in Malaysia.

BYD Malaysia has expanded the Seal EV's early bird promotional package to all customers before the end of March 3, 2024.
In response to this great reception from customers, SDM has decided to further expand the early booking campaign for the Seal EV. Customers who place a booking for the Seal EV through BYD Malaysia’s official website or at nationwide showrooms before the end of March 3 are entitled to receive complimentary home chargers and free Gentari or ChargEV charging credits worth RM800.
“The response from Malaysians clearly demonstrates their readiness to embrace electric vehicles (EVs) from BYD, which continues to make waves here and in other parts of the region,” said Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Sime Darby Motors.
“Thanks to the strong demand for BYD SEAL, we are extending our early bird offer, allowing even more customers to take advantage of our exceptional value proposition. Together with BYD, SDM aims to continue setting the benchmark for excellence in the EV sector and industry at large and further stimulate the EV appeal among Malaysians nationwide,” Jeffrey added.

The Malaysian market sees the BYD Seal arriving in only two variants, namely the Premium RWD and the range-topping Performance AWD, both priced at RM179,800 and RM199,800, respectively.
While both models are juiced by the same 82.5-kWh LFP ‘Blade’ battery pack, the Premium RWD model gets a single, rear-mounted (RWD) electric motor setup rated at 308 HP (230 kW) and 360 NM. Century sprint time reads at a decent 5.9 seconds, while the sizable battery pack allows for a decent 570 KM of maximum WLTP range.

The top-spec Performance AWD model, on the other hand, gets a peppier, dual-motor AWD setup rated at 523 HP (390 kW) and 670 NM, allowing a faster 0-100 KM/H sprint time of only 3.8 seconds. Due to its peppier motor setup, the Performance AWD model sacrifices some of its maximum range, with its WLTP figure reading lower at 520 KM.
To further strengthen the ownership experience of the Seal EV, SDM and BYD Malaysia have provided an extensive after-sales package. As standard, all BYD Seal EVs come with a 6-year or 150,000 KM vehicle warranty, an 8-year or 160,000 KM battery warranty, plus an additional 8-year or 150,000 KM warranty for their drive unit.

On top of the standard warranties mentioned above, customers can also opt for the optional Standard and Plus Service packages offered by BYD Malaysia. Available for durations of 3 years, 6 years, and 8 years, these packages add several enhancements to your Seal ownership experience, including tyre alignment, balancing, and rotation services.
You can learn more about the new BYD Seal and the comprehensive after-sales packages offered to it by visiting any BYD outlets nearby or via BYD Malaysia’s official website and social media pages.
