Fiat Abarth 600e Revealed, Debuts Properly Later This Year
First official image of the upcoming Fiat Abarth 600e Scorpionissima edition. This special will see just 1,949 units planned, and feature a striking 'Hypersonic Purple' paintjob.
Following a spyshot of it out in the wild making its rounds online, Italian automaker Fiat as elected to reveal the first image of its upcoming Abarth 600e performance EV crossover. Aptly, this is the hotter scorpion-badged version of the Fiat 600e EV crossover that debuted not too long ago.
Abarth didn't specify too much details in announcing the 600e, but did confirm than this EV crossover boasts a 240 HP output - 85 HP more than the smaller Abarth 500e EV hatch, in fact. Moreover, the Abarth 600e will launches with the limited Scorpionissima edition pictured.
In this special form, which will reportedly see just 1,949 units planned, with said figure marking the Abarth performance brand’s founding year and celebrates its 75th anniversary this year. Moreover, the Abarth 600e will come dressed in a vivid coat of Hypersonic Purple paint too.
Other upgrades include wider tires shod on each of its variant-specific 20-inch wheels, beefed-up brakes, and the addition of a mechanical limited-slip diff. There will also be large "Abarth" decals adorned just above the side sills plus a neon-green-accented scorpion emblem on the front fender.
Expect this hot EV performance crossover to see its 240 HP e-motor mention juiced by the same 54 kWh battery as the base Fiat 600e. Naturally, we can also expect a slight trade-off in range for the increased output and performance this variant offers.
Fiat didn’t get mention a specific launch date, but the Abarth 600e is expected to debut fully in the coming months. As for availability, it remains unclear if this hotter performance variant will be offered in markets outside of the European Union just yet.
When it launches, the Abarth 600e will join alongside the Abarth 500e EV hot hatch mentioned, and both are set to replace the combustion (ICE)-powered Abarth 595/685 versions of the latest-gen Fiat 500 supermini.
