UMW Toyota Retains Spot As Malaysia's best-selling non-national brand in 2023

For the third year in a row, UMW Toyota Motor Sdn. Bhd. (UMWT) maintained its position as Malaysia's leading non-national automaker, achieving another impeccable performance in 2023. They got off to a fast start in 2024, shipping 6,276 units for Toyota and Lexus in just January.
Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor, expressed his satisfaction with 2023’s performance, stating, “Our success is a reflection of our dedication to delivering high-quality vehicles and an unparalleled ownership journey. With 108,107 units sold overall in 2023 (Toyota and Lexus), the company maintained its leadership position and captured a significant 32% of the non-national passenger vehicle market (Toyota only). With 22,533 units sold, they commanded a commanding 19.6% market share in the non-national market for SUVs.

Toyota also led the pack in the pickup segment, with 27,447 units sold in 2023 and a 47.2% market share. They even dominated the panel van game with 3,424 registrations, resulting in a perfect score and 100% market share.

The company also expanded its footprint by opening a new 3S location in Nibong Tebal, Penang, in the first week of February. This strategic move aims to improve customer service and accessibility in the region, in line with UMWT's commitment to providing an extensive and accessible network for its valued clients.
