First Look: Peugeot E-5008 – Three-Row EV SUV, Up to 660 KM Range

The third-gen Peugeot 5008 debuts with a new, all-electric E-5008 version.
Revealed globally for the first time today is the new, third-gen Peugeot 5008. For the first time ever, this three-row SUV crossover is offered with an all-electric E-5008 version, aside from the standard ICE-based hybrid variants.
For its third-gen iteration, the 5008 is developed as an EV from the ground up, with the SUV underpinning Stellantis’ proprietary STLA Medium platform, which can cater to both EV and ICE powertrains.

The all-electric E-5008 comes with three powertrain flavours.
Speaking of powertrains, the E-5008 lineup kicks off with the baseline single-motor front-wheel drive (FWD) option that boasts a total system output of 211 HP and 345 NM. Juiced by a 73-kWh battery pack, the base-spec E-5008 FWD comes with a passable EV range of 500 KM.
Moving on to the mid-spec E-5008, this variant gets a peppier single-motor FWD setup rated at 228 HP and 345 NM, which is then juiced by a larger 98-kWh battery pack for a longer EV range of 660 KM.

Sitting on top of the E-5008 lineup is the Electric 320 dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) variant, boasting a total system output of 316 HP. Due to its peppier motor setup, the Electric 320 model comes with a shorter EV range of 500 KM, despite running on the same 98-kWh battery pack as the mid-spec model.

Regardless of varaints, the E-5008 supports both AC 11 kW and DCFC 160 kW charging.
All three models make do with a 400-volt battery architecture and a decent DCFC rate of 160 kW, which allows for a decent 20-80% charging time of 30 minutes. AC charging, on the other hand, is capped at 11 kW as standard, with an option to upgrade to a faster 22 kW one.

The new E-5008 looks similar to the E-3008, featuring the same design cues in a longer and larger form.
On the design front, the new E-5008 is essentially an extended, three-row version of the E-3008, featuring a similar front face and styling cues derived from its smaller sibling. Besides its extended body that now measures 4.79 metres with a wheelbase of 2.90 metres, this three-row SUV also rides on 19-inch wheels for the standard Allure trim line, while the range-topping GT spec gets bigger 20-inch units.

On board, the E-5008 comes with a very familiar cabin layout that looks like the spit of its smaller siblings, notably the new E-3008. Key highlights present here include the 21-inch panoramic i-Cockpit display, a wireless charging pad, a multi-colour ambient lighting system, heated and powered front seats with Alcantara upholstery, a host of active safety features like Adaptive Cruise Control, and many more.

The Peugeot E-5008 is set to dethrone the Tesla Model Y as Europe's best-selling midsize EV SUV.
The all-new Peugeot E-5008 is poised to go on sale in selected European markets later in September this year, where it will compete against the likes of the Tesla Model Y in the midsize EV SUV segment. As of now, Peugeot has yet to reveal the prices for the new E-5008 lineup, but we can expect it to be tagged slightly higher than the E-3008, which currently retails for £50,000 (RM301,373) in the UK.
