New Kia K4 Is The Sporty Honda Civic Rival We Won’t Get

The Kia K4 debuts as the new compact sedan fighter by the Korean automaker.
Korean automaker Kia has a new compact sedan contender under its stable, and it is now known as the Kia K4. Replacing both the Cerato and Forte, the K4 boasts a very divisive yet bold design language known as ‘Twist Logic’, in the form of a sleek fastback saloon body style.
Up front, the K4 comes with an EV9-inspired front face, featuring T-shaped LED headlights with a wide lower bumper air intake, giving the car an almost grill-less front look. The ‘Twist Logic’ design language is more apparent on the side, where this compact saloon comes with angular front and rear fenders, while the rear door handles are hidden within its thick D-pillars.

The K4's fastback roofline with thick D-pillars are met with its sporty rear end, featuring sleek L-shaped LED taillights.
At the rear, the K4 sports wide L-shaped LED taillights that lead into the Kia emblem on the tailgate. Meanwhile, the rear bumper comes with a sporty, diffuser-like accent that adds some extra sportiness to this angular, compact saloon.

On board, the new K4 gets a pretty minimalist cabin design, featuring a slew of modern tech amenities and creature comforts. Crowing above its front dash is the expansive screen that not only houses both the cluster metre and the infotainment display, but also a dedicated climate control display for easier access. Fortunately, said display is still complemented by several physical buttons, specifically for both the climate control and the infotainment suite.
Other key pieces of equipment present here include the squared steering wheel, the old-fashioned T-bar gear shifter, as well as several cabin colour options, including this unique Slate Green hue.
Unfortunately, Kia has yet to mention any powertrain details regarding the new K4, as this showcase is meant to display the car’s bold and unique styling. However, we can expect the K4 to get several pure ICE options that feature a 1.6-litre turbocharged 4-cyl petrol mill as its core, plus a hybrid model in some markets.

The all-new Kia K4 is poised to make its official public unveiling at the upcoming 2024 NY Auto Show.
Kia’s latest compact sedan model is poised to make its first public appearance at the upcoming 2024 New York International Auto Show, which will take place later in March 29. By then, we can expect to know more about the K4’s powertrain option, although we are certain that it won’t come with a fully electric version.
While the new Kia K4 is set to go against the likes of the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla in several international markets, the same can’t be said for Malaysia, as this Korean C-segment sedan has not been offered in our market for quite some time. But then again, should local Kia brand custodian Bermaz Auto (BAuto) decide to bring the K4 here, we’d reckon it’ll be an interesting alternative to the usual Japanese suspects.
