GAC Aion Hyper SSR EV Supercar With 1,208 HP Debuts In Italy

China's GAC Motor debuted its radical Aion Hyper SSR EV supercar in Italy this week.
Chinese automaker GAC didn’t just make headlines locally this week, it also made a splash on the international stage. Debuting in Europe for the first time during the Milan Fashion Week in Italy was the automaker’s radical Aion Hyper SSR all-electric supercar.
First revealed in China back in Sept 2022, this EV supercar boasts similar dimensions as the Lotus Evija – it sits 4,538 MM long, 1,988 MM wide and 1,238 MM tall. Its sleek and radical design, which also features dihedral doors, is also very aerodynamic and it even includes an active rear spoiler.

Perhaps this EV supercar's existence explains the high sporty aspirations of the GAC GS3 Emzoom Premium R variant that launched locally last night. Read about that by clicking these blue words...
Said design was the fruit of a collaboration between GAC Motor’s headquarters in Guangzhou, China and its Los Angeles-based American office. If anything, this supercar’s existence perhaps explains the sporty aspirations of the GAC GS3 Emzoom Premium R variant crossover that launched last night.
Much of the Aion Hyper SSR – which stands for 'Super Sport Race' – is constructed out of lightweight carbon fibre, including its wheels. Also made of said lightweight element are its brakes and, in all, should promise to keep this supercar relatively light.

Much of the Aion Hyper SSR is constructed out of lightweight carbon fibre, which promises to keep weight low.
Crucially, the fast styling is matched with the promise of hypercar-like performance stemming from its peppy tri-motor setup. Out of which too come eye-watering performance figures and claims, with GAC noting 1,208 HP and 12,000 NM outputs, plus a Rimac-matching 0-100 KM/H time of just 1.9 seconds.
Said tri-motor is juiced by a 75.68 kWh battery pack that promises up to 506 KM in range with each full charge. However, do note said range claim is based on the CLTC testing cycle, which is known to be very laxed and arguably not as thorough as others (i.e. NEDC, WLTP).

With a claimed 1,208 HP and whopping 12,000 NM outputs, this Chinese EV supercar begs to differ against the likes of the Rimac Nevera.
On board, the GAC Aion Hyper SSR features a cabin primed with a hexagonal-shaped steering wheel, whilst the dash has no stalks and very few buttons. It does boast chrome metalwork trims aimed at elevating the cabin’s ambience.
Other key bits present include sports seats, active cruise control, dual-zone climate control, as well as an 8-speaker hi-fi audio suite. As for displays, the dash is laced with both a 14.6-inch central touchscreen infotainment and an aviation-inspired 8.8-inch digital instrument panel.

On board, the Aion Hyper SSR boasts a rather minimalistic cabin primed with two digital displays plus a hexagonal-shaped steering wheel. Buttons are few and there no stalks int he steering column even.
GAC Motor claims that this Aion Hyper SSR supercar is environmentally sustainable as it uses no animal products. It also has some materials that were 3D-printed, whilst others were created from recycled yarn, and it also adopts biodegradable vegan leather upholstery.
With the Aion Hyper SSR, GAC Motor reportedly aims to disrupt Europe’s supercar elite, even touting that the monopoly by the likes of established Italian household names like Lamborghini and Ferrari.

Despite the promise of hyper-speed, the GAC Aion Hyper SSR does not have hypercar-like prices, at least in China - the sole market where it is on sale.
In China, the Aion Hyper SSR was launched with a price tag of RMB1,286,000 (approx. RM167,066), which can go up to RMB1,686,000 (approx. RM219,030) in Ultimate Track Version form. This is indeed a stark contrasts to equivalents like the Rimac Nevera, which starts at a more staggering £2.4 million (approx. RM14.25 million).
That being said though, it remains uncertain if GAC Motor will market the Aion Hyper SSR in any capacity in Europe. Nevertheless, check out more images of this Chinese-made EV supercar with a bargain price tag in the gallery prepared below…
