Launched: Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance – 802 HP Super-PHEV Limo, RM2.24 million

Also teased last month and launched today is the Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance super-PHEV limo.
We continue unpacking the barrage of new ‘2024 Dream Cars Collection’ high-end models launched en-masse earlier today by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) now with the new Mercedes-AMG S63 E-Performance.
Revealed globally towards the end of 2022, this is one of three models initially teased by MBM last month, the other two being the refreshed GLS 450 4Matic and Maybach GLS 600 4Matic duo. These, along with scores of others, are part of the ‘Luxury Like No Other’ showcase held by MBM this week until April 7 at NZ Wheels, Bangsar.

For Malaysia, MBM offers the S63 E Performance in long wheelbase (LWB, chassis code: V223) form to mirror the rest of the variants available in the local S-Class range.
As a refresher, this is the electrified performance variant of the seventh generation (W223 & V223) S-Class flagship limo. For Malysia, MBM have elected to offer the S63 E Performance in the latter V223 long wheelbase (LWB) form to mirror the rest of the current local S-Class range.
Aptly, this version of the S-Class harnesses the Formula 1-derived performance plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain as seen in the AMG GT63S E Performance. The package consists of AMG’s signature hand-built 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 mill paired with a 13.1 kWh battery and rear e-motor.
Combined, said electrified V8 generates a whopping 802 HP and a gravity-defying 1,430 NM of twist. All of which are channelled onto the road through an AMG Speedshift MCT 9G 9-speed automatic box and AMG Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive (AWD) suite.

The AMG hand-built 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo mill is augmented with a rear e-motor and 13.1 kWh battery, altogether supplying a whopping 802 HP and 1,430 NM of twist, thus enabling 0-100 KM/H in just 3.3 secs.
As a result, the S63 E Performance can complete the century sprint in just 3.3 seconds whilst enroute towards its claimed 290 KM/H V-Max. The latter figure also signals that Malaysia-bound versions are standard-equipped with the AMG Driver’s Package option too.
Notably, the electrified side of the powertrain also enables the S63 E Performance with up to 31 KM of all-electric range with each full charge. Speaking of which, said battery is primed with a 3.7 kW on-board charger (OBC), though MBM did not disclose charging times.
Through the AMG Driver’s Package mentioned, the S63 E Performance also sees its chassis being laced with AMG Ride Control+ air suspension, AMG Active Ride Control roll stabilization and active rear-axle steering, as well as AMG high-performance ceramic composite brakes.

For Malaysia, MBM also equips the S63 E Performance with the AMG Driver's Package. This adds ceramic brakes, AMG Ride Control+ air suspension, AMG Active Ride Control roll stabilization, and active rear-axle steering.

As for exterior styling, the S63 E Performance comes decked out in both the AMG exterior carbon and AMG Night packages.
As for style, the go-fast performance and agility gets matched with 21-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels, and both the AMG exterior carbon and AMG Night packages. The latter adds high-gloss black finishes in the side mirror caps, black as well as chrome exterior trims and tailpipes.
On board, the S63 E Performance differs from the regular S-Class models thanks to its sportier and darker motif granted by the AMG Exclusive package. This furnishes the cabin with Nappa leather seat upholstery and AMG high-performance steering wheel.
Other key interior toches include anthracite open-pore poplar wood trims, centre console with a black crystal-look finish, AMG door sill panels with replaceable covers and an illuminated red AMG logo, as well as AMG floor mats with contrasting red pipe-stitching.

On board, the S63 E Performance mirrors much of what seen in other S-Class variants. However, it does stand out thanks to the AMG Exclusive treatment, which laces the cabin with a myriad of sporty and dark trims and accents.
Apart from which, much of the cabin mirrors what’s seen in other S-Class variants. Present here is the MBUX dual digital displays module, MBUX high-end rear seat entertainment system with accompanying MBUX rear tablet, a heads-up display (HUD), active ambient lighting, Burmester 3D surround audio suite, the Air Balance package, and both front and rear wireless chargers.
The same can be said about safety and driver assistance package. Included are the Active Distance Assist Distronic, Active Steering Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist, as well as Active Parking Assist with Parktronic and a Parking Package with a 360-degree camera.
As for price, its status as a fully imported (CBU) model sees the Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance command RM2,238,888 sans on-road costs. Said price includes an additional 6-year or 100,000 KM high-voltage battery warranty covering the PHEV system.
