New Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain Gains Ironguard Roller Shutter – Limited Units, From RM156K

Late yesterday evening, Isuzu Malaysia quietly began marketing a new special edition variant of its evergreen D-Max pick-up truck offering by dropping a new promotional ad on YouTube that's embedded above. Featured in said ad is the new Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain with Ironguard roller-shutter.

Following which, the truckmaker subsequently updated in official website to feature said new special. From which, we’ve garnered plenty of details – including price – about this new addition to Isuzu Malaysia’s line up.

The newly added Ironguard roller shutter adds both privacy and anti-theft shields for the flatbed. It's also both waterproof and dustproof, thus offering added security for cargo loads in the flatbed too.

This special is based on the already richly-kitted X-Terrain flagship variant of the D-Max pick-up truck. The key addition here is the Ironguard roller shutter and, as we’ve discovered, is more than just a simple powered roller-shutter indeed.

Firstly, the newly added Ironguard roller shutter offers several additional benefits such as deterring cargo theft, as well as being both dust- and waterproof. This is indeed nifty for any avid pick-up truck owner as it easily lets them secure cargo or loads placed in the flatbed.

Electric power-operation enables operation of the roller shutter via one-touch controls in the tailgate and cabin, the keyfob, as well as a dedicated smartphone app.

Additionally, the Ironguard roller shutter features powered operation through both one-touch open-close button panel outside near the tailgate and from inside the cabin, the standard keyfob, as well as a dedicated mobile app.

Moreover, the Ironguard roller shutter also boasts built-in rails that enables easy mounting of additional accessories. It also has a built-in anti-pinch safety mechanism to prevent accidents and injuries when operating the roller shutter.

There's also built-in multi-level illumination primed in the flatbed for greater ease.

That aside, this Ironguard-equipped special remains identical to the regular X-Terrain variant it underpins. Much of the existing bells and whistles, which includes basic ADAS features (ACC, LDW, FCW, and AEB, amongst others), are retained.

The same applies to this special’s powertrain, which sees it harnessing a familiar 3.0-litre 4-cyl turbo-diesel lump outputting 190 PS and 450 NM. Said mill is primed to a full-blown 4x4 driveline and 6-speed automatic box.

Existing Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain flagship variant. Details for which are available in our initial launch report.

From the promotional materials, Isuzu Malaysia says this new D-Max X-Terrain with Ironguard roller shutter will see ‘limited’ units available, though the firm did not specify any quantity figures for which.

Instead, the firm did issue official price figures for this special, and it starts from RM155,938.40 in Peninsular Malaysia.

Said price includes Isuzu Malaysia’s usual 7-year, unlimited mileage warranty, but this special notably gets a separate 18-month warranty covering the Ironguard roller shutter added.
