Isuzu Malaysia officially introduced the face-lifted 2024MY Isuzu D-Max pick-up truck locally today.

After several mild revisions and re-speccing efforts since it first launched in 2019, the third-generation Isuzu D-Max pick-up truck range sees a complete mid-cycle refresh in its latest 2024 model year guise. Said model was launched locally by Isuzu Malaysia earlier today.

A total of five variants will be available across both single- and dual-cab bodystyles. Both of Isuzu’s signature 1.9-litre and 3.0-litre 4-cyl turbo-diesel lumps are available, along with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission choices, not forgetting 4x2 and 4x4 driveline setups.

Up to five variants are available featuring single- and dual-cab bodystyles, two familiar 4-cyl turbo-diesel mills, 6-speed AT and MT options, as well as 4x2 and 4x4 driveline choices.

As for output figures, these range from as low as 148 HP and 350 NM stemming from the 1.9-litre unit, and up to 188 HP and 450 NM shelled out by the larger 3.0-litre mill mentioned. As usual, the availability of 4x2 or 4x4 drivelines greatly depends on both transmission and trimline choices.

Notably, what’s new here in 4x4 dual-cab variants is a new ‘Rough Terrain Mode’ derived from the D-Max’s full-bodied MU-X SUV twin – which isn’t sold in Malaysia anymore. This feature sharpens the brakes and transfers torque to the wheels with the most traction – ideal for rock-crawling.

Aesthetic changes are evident in the range-topping 3.0 X-Terrain pictured. Notable here are the new headlights, grille, bonnet, and bumper.

Critically this newly added off-road driving mode is able to automatically engage the rear diff-lock too – only in specific variants primed with the latter driveline addition. In other words, the new D-Max promises to be a much more capable off-roader than its predecessor.

Aesthetically, a lot of the changes mirror what’s seen in the Thai market model version that debuted in Oct last year. Commons new exterior bits include a distinct new front fascia thanks to redesigned LED headlights, bumper, bonnet, and grille.

Specifically for the 3.0 X-Terrain, it now boasts wider new wheel arches and a revised tailgate that's now lockable too.

Both the 3.0 X-Terrain range-topper and dual-cab 4x4 variants now boasts a new Rough Terrain Mode that works in tandem with the rear diff-lock.

At the rear, the changes are milder in contrast to what’s seen up front, but still includes new LED combination taillights. In the case of the 3.0 X-Terrain range-topper, this now boasts new and wider wheel arches matched with updated alloy wheels design.

On board, the 2024MY D-Max’s cabin has been given a makeover too, featuring updated dash design plus a slew of new kit and amenities. However, keep in mind that the availability of certain features are highly dependent on variant and trimline.

Key highlights found in the high-end trimlines include a new steering wheel design primed with paddle-shifters, ventilated front seats, semi-digital instrument display, USB-C charging ports, as week as an updated 10-inch central infotainment touchscreen.

Changes on board are also more evident in the 3.0 X-Terrain range-topper. Highlights include a revised dash design, updated displays, and a host of new and improved amenities all around.

Lastly, in terms of safety, higher-end trimlines – 3.0 X-Terrain – see active driver assistance (ADAS) features primed as standard. These  are now powered by a new stereo camera that boasts a wider 120-degree field-of-view, allowing faster an more accurate detection and reaction.

Available for viewing and orders at authorised dealers nationwide now, the face-lifted 2024 Isuzu D-Max pick-up truck range see prices starting between RM98,949.20 (1.9 Single-Cab) and RM157,938.40 (3.0 X-Terrain).

Included in said prices is a 5-year or 150,000 KM warranty for all variants. However, there's a 7-year, unlimited mileage warranty package exclusively for the 3.0 X-Terrain variant.
