Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain says that the Operation Selamat 22, which was carried out in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2024 saw a slight decrease in the alarming statistics. Compared to the Raya holidays of last year, there was a 1.41% decrease in the overall number of traffic accidents.
A Total of 8,862 accidents  were recorded during the op as opposed to 8,989 cases in the previous year. Meanwhile there were 119 accidental deaths overall, which is less than the 126 that occurred the previous year.

"Motorcycle riders and pillions still recorded the highest deaths at 79 in this Op Selamat, compared to 80 in 2023, Razarudin mentioned asding that failing to maintain a safe distance between vehicles and being too tired or sleepy are two major factors in traffic accidents.
