Tesla Model 3 Performance Launched - 0-100 KM/H 3.1-Sec, From RM242,000

Tesla officially unveiled the Model 3 Performance earlier today, and it’s designed to be a new driver-centric product with a unique chassis with enhanced performance and lower kerb weight.
Notable here are hollow piston rod dampers, a multi-sectioned stabiliser bar, ultra-high strength steel springs, and stiffer suspension top mounts. All of this results in a chassis that not only improves performance, but also supports the vehicle's advanced technologies.

The heart (or rather the foot) of the new Model 3 Performance is the current generation Performance "4DU" drive unit, which provides up to 22% more continuous power, 32% more peak power, and 16% more peak torque than its predecessor. This means faster and more prolonged acceleration, which is especially noticeable during corner exits.

Even with these upgrades, the Model 3 Performance consumes around 2% less energy than the previous model. This efficiency is achieved without sacrificing performance, which is further bolstered by forged and staggered 20-inch wheels equipped with Tesla-specific Pirelli P Zero 4 performance tyres.

According to Tesla, the new "4DU" electric motor's response is controlled within milliseconds using its own Vehicle Dynamics Controller (VDC), which adjusts front and rear motor torque hundreds of times per second. The powertrain torque distribution in the Model 3 Performance is set to be rear-biassed to improve traction and enable more dramatic cornering.
Brake performance has also been improved, with the Model 3 Performance coming standard with a pair of track-ready brake pads, which provide faster deceleration and greater endurance in high temperature conditions.

The new Model 3 Performance also rides on Tesla’s Adaptive Damping tech, which is a first for the Model 3. This technology reacts dynamically to both road and driver inputs, improving ride comfort and handling with real-time refinements controlled by Tesla proprietary software.
The driving experience can be set using three selectable drive modes: Standard, Sport, and Track. Aptly, Track Mode focuses on improving body control and responsiveness to ensure constant high performance on closed courses. Here, motor controls, suspension settings, powertrain cooling, and VDC are all combined into a cohesive system to offer a predictable and exciting driving experience.

This mode also allows drivers to explore the vehicle's performance envelope more freely across various track conditions, thanks to a complete re-calibration of handling balance, stability assist, regenerative braking, and ABS tuning.
The new Model 3 Performance stands out visually with a very modest front splitter, rear diffuser, plus a rear spoiler that improves both the vehicle's appearance and aerodynamic performance. These components reduces drag by up to 5%, lift by 36%, and enhances front-to-back lift balance by 55%.

Inside, new 12-way power adjusted sport seats with increased bolstering provide better lateral support during intense driving while remaining comfortable for regular use.
Furthermore, we at CariCarz believe that the Model 3 Performance rollout has been completed globally for both the left-hand and right-hand drive markets. The Malaysian Tesla vehicle configurator has already been updated to include the Model 3 Performance, which starts at RM242,000 for a white exterior and black interior option.

Switching to the white interior colour will cost an additional RM5,000, while other body colours options begin at RM5,000. Buyers can now choose between the Enhanced Auto-Pilot at RM16,000 and the Full Self-Driving Option at RM32,000.
Another detail that is not shared by Tesla is the battery difference between the Malaysian and US-spec Model 3 Performance. The latter employs a Fremont-made Panasonic 82 kWh unit, while Malaysia-bound models instead gets an LG-supplied 79k Wh battery.
-full.webp)
The difference in battery has an impact on power performance; leaked numbers indicate the US version produces 510 HP and 741 NM to enable 0-60 MPH (96 KM/H) in just 2.9 seconds. In contrast, Malaysia-bound Model 3 Performance outputs lower figures of 460 HP and 723 NM, which permits 0-100 KM/H sprints in 3.1 seconds with a WLTP range of 528KM.
Tesla Malaysia's configurator likewise indicates that deliveries will begin in the second quarter of this year, however we seriously doubt consumers will be able to receive their order as claimed.
