Chery Auto Malaysia Ink MoU With TDA To Develop Auto Industry ESG Standard

Chery Auto Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Technology Depository Agency (TDA), a government body under the Ministry of Finance, during the Malaysia Autoshow 2024 (MAS 2024).
This collaboration demonstrates Chery Auto Malaysia's strong commitment in developing ESG standards in Malaysia's automotive industry that would eventually benefit the nation in the long run.

The TDA's Industrial Collaboration Programme (ICP) would provide Chery Auto Malaysia a link to local industry and important global technical partners. The ICP is also meant to assist Malaysian businesses in acquiring critical expertise and enhancing global competitiveness through government procurement.

According to Leo Chen, President of Chery Auto Malaysia, "This MoU demonstrates our commitment to exploring, expanding, and improving collaborative efforts, which will not only strengthen our interactions but also drive meaningful impacts among stakeholders, professionals, and staff."

Meanwhile, TDA’s CEO Dr. Sharoul Jambari said, "Through this partnership, we will explore solutions for environmental concerns and social well-being." Our mission is to develop and implement innovative programs to solve environmental and social challenges."
This MoU proposes initiatives such as waste reduction, greener manufacturing techniques, and the investigation of responsible battery management practices in the EV industry.

Furthermore, the alliance would also explore improving working conditions in the automotive supply chain, promote workplace diversity and inclusion, and support local communities through social responsibility projects.
This collaboration serves as a positive example for other firms to adopt sustainable practices and contribute to Malaysia's greener future.
