Transport Minister Anthony Loke had announced recently that the land acquisition process for Selangor's East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project is moving smoothly as the final part of the land acquisition enters the Klang area.
Loke further mentioned that the process was effortless thanks to the state government's assistance and the contractor's expertise addressing land acquisition challenges faced in Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang.

Furthermore Loke adds that cases of dissatisfied landowners would surely exist, can be addressed through proper clarification which might require a bump in the compensation amount payable to them, among other things.
Loke also noted that close collaboration between state governments and the ECRL project contractor, China Communications Construction Sdn Bhd (CCC-ECRL), in resolving land acquisition concerns was important. The state governments play the biggest role in resolving land acquisition issues, which is meant to benefit the state eventually.

The 665 KM-long ECRL line is advancing as expected, with the East Coast route now in the station building phase. Furthermore, the Genting Tunnel, which spans 16.39 KM across the Titiwangsa Range, is 30% completed, but will take more than a year to complete.
The ECRL line, which will be operational in January 2027, would connect the East Coast states of Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang to the West Coast states of Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, and the Federal Territory of Putrajaya.
