Next-Generation Bentley Continental GT Debuts In June With PHEV V8

First of two teaser images released by Bentley of its upcoming new generation Continental GT.
Bentley is about to usher in a new and fourth generation iteration of its signature and staple luxury GT model, the Continental GT, next month. Along with the two teaser images featured, Bentley’s latest press statement also revealed several key new details about said new GT.

Unveiled last week, Bentley's new V8 PHEV mill will offer up to 771 HP and 1,000 NM in the new Continental GT.
Fresh from revealing its new V8 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain last week, the Crewe-based marque confirmed said electrified powerplant will power the new Continental GT. Though rated at 740 HP initially, said mill will instead shell out a higher 782 PS (771 HP) output in the new Continental GT.
Top-end aside, the mill is also set to deliver up to 1,000 NM of twist, and the new Continental GT will offer just that too. Crucially, the PHEV setup will also promise up to 80 KM of electric-only range in said new staple GT model.

The W12-engined Bentley GT Speed boasted 650 HP and 900 NM plus a 0-100 KM/H sprint time of 3.6 secs. Expect this electrified V8 PHEV successor to be much quicker.
With that, it’s easy to see how the new Continental GT should match the outgoing W12-powered model’s speed. As a refresher, the Continental GT Speed and Le Mans Collection special saw their W12 hearts offer up to 650 HP and 900 NM, thus allowing 0-100 KM/H in just 3.6 secs. With the new generation successor, Bentley has hinted a 3.0-sec century sprint time, in fact.
Not just faster, Bentley also hints that the new Continental GT promises to be more agile than ever too. This stems from the new and more sophisticated chassis it is set to underpin, which Bentley notes will feature active all-wheel-drive (AWD), torque-vectoring, four-wheel steering, electronic rear differential, 48-volt electric anti-roll bars, as well as adaptive dual-valve dampers, amongst many.

Not only quicker, Bentley also promises the new Continental GT to be more agile thanks to a highly enhanced chassis.
As for styling, the camouflaged prototype featured in the teaser reveals quite a few changes to expect. Key amongst which is the new front fascia which will feature a pair of new oval-shaped headlights replacing the current car’s quad-headlight setup.
The grille these flanks appears to be unchanged, but it is new and more upright. At the rear, things remain more or less identical, albeit with slimmer new taillights that appear lifted from the Bacalar special. Overall, the powerfully sleek stance inspired by the 1952 Type-R Continental remains.
Expect more details once the electrified new fourth-generation Bentley Continental GT officially debuts next month.
