We are sure many in the EV space would still remember the introduction of AutoCharge feature by EVC through their JomCharge app exclusively for Chery Omoda E5 during its launch back in March.

However, the initial batch of Chery E5 owners had to complete the registration manually, which required them to visit EVC's office to opt-in before their AutoCharge was activated with a limited selection of charging points.

However, just three months later, users can now activate AutoCharge seamlessly using the JomCharge app at any of the AutoCharge-enabled charging points nationwide.

The JomCharge AutoCharge, just like Gentari, EVC's roaming partner, is intended to work as seamlessly as possible. Users just need to register with their vehicle's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) when registering at any of the AutoCharge-enabled charging stations.

Once registered, EV owners only need to plug in to begin their charging session without having to fumble around with an app. Payment also occurs immediately when the user plugs out at the end of their session, with automatic billing to their registered card or payment method.

All JomCharge AutoCharge-enabled charging points have the AutoCharge sticker, and users can view this logo also in their app. However, unlike Gentari's AutoCharge function, which is available to all EVs (with this function), JomCharge currently only offers this function to partner brands Chery and GAC Aion.

Users can enable this AutoCharge feature by going to any of the AutoCharge enabled chargers, click "activate” in the “Account” section of the JomCharge App, and follow on-screen instructions. The JomCharge app's AutoCharge filter can help you find these chargers.

Additionally, unlike Gentari, which only has 16 charging spots that are AutoCharge enabled for the time being, JomCharge has over 200 locations.

According to EVC, they are actively pursuing partnerships with other EV brands to provide more EV users with access to the AutoCharge feature.

EVC's MD, Ir. Lee Yuen How, said, "EVC is honoured to bring the AutoCharge service to EV users here. He also added that, “As an EV user, I favour seamless EV charging, and I feel JomCharge's AutoCharge is the way it should be.”

Meanwhile, EVC's technical director, Dr. Che Hang Seng, also commented, "We have gotten a lot of feedback from our consumers suggesting the need for an automated and straightforward EV charging technique, especially since the number of EV charging apps has recently mushroomed.”
